How can I remove this annoying virus whatever called MBR:\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE0?
The computer in question runs under Windows XP. I did a random system scan with Avart and it detected that threat called MBR:\\.\PHYSICALDRIVE0. Avart delected all threats it found except that particular one. I chose several option on Avart: move to chest, delete, repair… but Avart did nothing, saying either the action was not implemented or object could not be found.
That virus has caused some troubles to my PC. Every time I insert my USB the computer does funny things and gives the USB a virus. And my browser seems to be slowing down too. Can any Fluther computer geek tell me how I can remove the virus?

Try Malware bytes
https://www.malwarebytes.org/downloads/
there is a free version and also free trial for upgraded version.
Have you tried doing a full system scan on boot up? There is an option for it in Avast. Maybe Malware bytes too.

Guess worst case scenario, not sure though….Do a full system restore. Should get rid of it. Also consider scanning and wiping your USB drives or devices you have used. Unless you need the data then scan and hope I suppose.
Other than that….I have no idea. I just know little stuff here and there.
MBR stands for Master Boot Record – it’s one of the first things that Windows opens when your machine turns on, and makes some very basic decisions, like how and where to boot from.
If a virus got into your MBR, it can do all kinds of VERY BAD things that you would never know about.
You didn’t say which version of Windows you have, but the fix is pretty much the same. You’ll need to boot up your machine in safe (or recovery) mode and follow the directions in this article.

Of course if you are Windows 8, Google the words “windows 8 fix mbr”.
This isn’t hard to do, but it is a dangerous situation. SO you need to fix it. My question to you: how did the virus get there in the first place?
@elbanditoroso I said in the description that the computer uses Windows XP. And as for how it got here, one day I lent my friend my USB. Guess it came from her computer.
How comfortable are you in editing your registry?
Somewhat. As long as it isn’t too complicated.
You can load and run hijackthis, then go to one of the sites that analyzes your scan results and they will tell you which is bad, and to what level, and show you which keys are values to change. These days it is easy to make a restore point so if you do happen to zap the wrong key or value you can go back, it just means you have to do it all again because you will be going back to a point where the virus was, if you did not have a restore point before then, which means you can just go there and by pass all the aforementioned steps.
