Wasn't Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel's reelection dependent upon delaying the release of the dash-cam video showing the police murdering Laquan McDonald?

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist by nature, but it looks to me as if Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy, State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez, and President Barack Obama colluded to ensure that Emanuel was reelected in a close race with Cook County Commissioner Jesus “Chuy” Garcia.
I include President Obama because he has close ties with Emanuel and it was the extended federal investigation that kept the video and related information locked down for so long.
The federal investigation still hasn’t concluded.

It’s not called the Windy City because of the wind.
I wish I could find the story I read last night where Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said [F you because] “The mayor has already told me he has my back.”
As much as Emanuel has anybody’s back, Garry. As much as anybody’s.
Just a note. If you follow the link in the OP there is no mention of any conspiracy or shooting.
Second link is www.gunssavelife.com so no more needs to be said.
Third link is is pretty much Rahm Emanuel saying he thinks the chief did a good job but needed to be fired. Personally, I think both need to be working at Taco Bell.
But the original post here seems to be made up shit with no real evidence.
Funny stuff.
1)
Self-described “gun people” and “2nd amendment supporters” love to spread ignorant hysteria about Chicago because they think it indicts both Obama and what they always call “the most restrictive gun laws in the nation” (which have not existed for many years).
2)
Also funny that it comes from the people whose wet dream is shooting down an unarmed black “bad guy”.
3)
There is no federal investigation.
The shooting was horrendous enough, and the coverup was egregious and stupid enough that you don’t have to heap nonsensical conservative conspiracy rumors on top of it.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said that the video was not released earlier because there was a concern that it could taint a federal and state investigation of McDonald’s shooting. Justification for withholding the video, @jaytkay, and the story begins to raise the same question as the OP, @johnpowell.
10–20-2014:
Chicago Police Department spokesman and now Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden faced news cameras. Camden explained McDonald was wielding a knife and was shot once in the chest. Camden said the officers had no choice.
“He was going at one of the officers. At that point, the officer defends himself,” said Camden. “When police tell you to drop a weapon, all you have to do is drop it.”
Blatant lying.
Protests were still ongoing in Ferguson Missouri and had the real details of Laquan McDonald’s death been known to the public/seen by the public all hell would have broken loose in Chicago, certainly tipping the balance against Emanuel’s re-election bid.
There was nothing stupid about the cover-up.
had the real details of Laquan McDonald’s death been known to the public/seen by the public all hell would have broken loose in Chicago
Oh, my goodness. The mayor may have been re-elected by preventing violent riots!
THE MONSTER!!!!
I think the mayor was re-elected by blatantly covering up a young man’s murder by a member of the Chicago police force, @jaytkay.
Shot 13 times while he lay motionless on the ground.
His body twitching as the bullets entered it.
Did you read the article? The fallout is just beginning. McCarthy down. Alvarez sinking.
@itsuburo I live in Chicago. I am well aware of the story. You don’t have to lie about it to make it look bad.
But they did lie about it, @jaytkay.
Repeatedly and for months, until a judge ordered release of the video.
I can see tempering the news while delaying release of the video, but not lying and obstruction by public officials.
”...wielding a knife and was shot once in the chest.”
Don’t be disingenuous. It’s not clever or funny.
Still facing calls for his resignation.
