Why would they have a work Christmas party on the first week of the month, on a Wednesday afternoon?

Asked by filmfann (52487points) December 3rd, 2015

San Bernardino County did.
Doesn’t that seem odd?

I, too, have been trying to figure out the timeline. The news story broke during the afternoon in EST, so the party must have been a morning event? The reasons, whatever they might be, made sense to all the people who attended.

Is it at work? Or, some big shabang off sight? The first week of the month is not odd to me at all. That it is on Wednesday might make sense if that is a day usually everyone works and the party is at work.

Perhaps people go on leave closer to Christmas. My Christmas party is on Monday afternoon.

Have the work party early, so it doesn’t interfere with family events.

Also, it was probably not specifically a “Christmas” party. We know they had at least one Muslim employee.

And Hanukkah starts next week.

Too many conflicts of other Christmas parties throughout the month by numerous other people, businesses, what-have-you.

False flag alert.

It’s not unusual at all. Many people are busy later in the month.

Okay, so, if they were social workers who help developmentally disabled persons, they may be quite busy closer to Christmas, helping those persons ready for their own holiday events.

Now I have seen this. It was not a party. It was a scheduled regular meeting.

Maybe it was a regularly scheduled meeting but they made it into their holiday celebration. If they are workers who go out in the field and see clients, it may be hard to get all of them together at any one time. This way, they have this prearranged, free spot in their schedules to have the meeting, and maybe they brought in food and made it festive, because at the next meeting, which would be January, it’s past the holidays.

Party was mentioned at first, but also at first they said there were at least three shooters. This account of the day’s events maps things out pretty clearly. Speeches, with a five minute bathroom break does not a party make.
For those who read my above link, this link is the same accounting, just reposted to make my point for everyone who didn’t read it the first time I posted.

OK so it was a mandatory continuing ed type of training class for the employees.

So, they were trying not to piss off the Muslim? Epic fail!

My husband’s company always has their Christmas party in the 2nd week of January, which coincides with a pay day. One of my former coworkers always caustically pointed out that it couldn’t be a CHRISTMAS party because it was in January. She always said it really rudely, like it was my fault somehow, and I was the stupid one! Well, she was one of those who always had to be the smartest one in the room, even if it simply means pointing out that Christmas is in December.
