Regarding the original TV series, are you a Napoleon Solo or Illya Kuryakin fan?

I could never decide. There was something that Solo did with his mouth that I found distracting, and Kuryakin always seemed so dry.
The Man From U.N.C.L.E., of course.
I’ve not seen the movie.

Only seen the movie, but russians are clearly a superior race.
Still and always a Ducky fan. (Do you get the reference, @ibstubro)?
NCIS is one of the few shows produced in the last 20 years that I’ve seen more than one episode of, @canidmajor.
I watched for the scenes with their boss, Leo G Caroll
Illia Kuryakin.
Solo was all suave and sophisticated, but I liked the Illya. He was cute and able to hold his own. He was perfect for the part. Besides, he knew how to do the cool technical stuff.
Solo always struck me as capable of being a bad guy with a cruel streak a mile wide, if being bad. Then he did go to the dark side and played bad characters in some movies and shows. He was meeeean!
I watched the 1938 A Christmas Carol the other pm on TCM, there was their boss- Leo G. Carroll as Jacob Marley! I heard his voice first and looked up. What was his name in the show? Mr. .... Franklin?
Remember their yellow badges they wore when at headquarters?
I never did miss the word U.N.C.L.E. on spelling tests from then on.
I liked them both. They made a great team.
Ilya Kuryakin, far and away!
I used to watch it and I preferred Illya Kuryakin. Napoleon Solo seemed too affected for my taste.
They both seemed to have really big heads. Physically.
What was Leo’s name on the show?
Still can’t remember…..
@canidmajor !!!!!
Thank you!!!!
24 hours of trying to remember without cheating and looking it up!
Of course!
Mr. Waverly. Dry wit to the nth!
Now I’ll have to look it up to see if they mention his first name. I remembered that because my best friend at the time lived on Waverly Place. :-)
I loved the show, and I probably liked Illya a little better than Solo (and yes, Robert Vaughn did have a weird mouth), but like a few others I think I liked Mr. Waverly the best. And not just because he used to be Topper.
Kuryakin was the smarter one. besides, my sister had a crush on Napoleon Solo.
My sister both had crushes on Illya, but I thought Napoleon Solo was super cool.
(The movie did not begin to measure up to the old TV series.)
I always preferred Illya Kuryakin. Like @Jeruba, I didn’t think much of the film. The series was great.
