And my wife pretty well lives on the Weather Channel so a lot of that for me too.
I have not watched TV for a decade.
Video. I’ve not had a TV channel since about 1998.
We watched a few seasons of Desperate Housewives some years back, and Six Feet Under in it’s entirety last year. Part of Arrested Development at some point.
I don’t believe I’ve had the TV on yet this year.
I listen to NPR whenever I’m in the car, and have been known to take the long route so I can hear the end of a story.
News. I listen to the radio and YouTube . I don’t have cable.
I do not subscribe to cable, and do not have a digital converter box to get local channels.
I do have Netflix, and I use an application called Kodi to stream movies and TV shows from around the world.
My favourite genres include science fiction and fantasy, costume dramas, detective serials, and stand-up comedy. I also enjoy horror movies, especially Asian hyper-violence and revenge films. I take a guilty pleasure in some of the better competition cooking shows, like Bake-Off (known in the US as the Great British Baking Show). I like yelling at the TV when people do stupid things on Chopped, too.
On the list you gave I chose “other” because I don’t watch tv and haven’t for near three years. Why? because for me personally, it has nothing of any significance to offer. I do watch football and baseball but I can do that online
Nothing that’s broadcast. Except for the Olympics and presidential debates (those between parties’ actual candidates, not would-be candidates), I don’t watch TV at all and haven’t for some 15 or 20 years. Every four years, when it’s time to turn it on, somebody has to show me how.
I do use my TV setup as a video-watching device for Netflix DVDs, which for me are mostly old movies. And my son and my husband watch some old TV series as streaming videos.
I watch nothing on TV. The Internet has replaced it for me.
I used to record Sabado Gigante and Saturday Night Live and watch them on Sunday. But SG is off the air and SNL I can watch on line.
I split my time between the news, movies, and a few series including The Affair, Homeland, Fargo, and True Detective.
I am an ignorant cretin by the standards set by these others. I watch some goofy stuff, a lot of science stuff, a lot of sci-fi stuff, some of the BBC period soaps, silly movies, whatever catches my fancy at any given time.
The TV is on most of the day because the ambient noise keeps the dogs from freaking at outside noises, but I tend not to watch til evening.
I never miss an episode of Saturday Night Live. It’s a family tradition with my husband and children.
NFL football is always on when there’s a game.
I have the first hour of Good Morning America playing in the background each week day as I make my daughter’s lunch and eat breakfast.
I often have some news on during the day for an hour or two. It’s mostly background noise, but I do pay attention if something interests me.
Survivor, Modern Family, The Walking Dead, Vikings, Game of Thrones, VEEP, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Fixer Upper, Master Chef, Shameless. I’m going blank. I know there are more.
Much the same as my choosing to not eat meat, I don’t believe my choosing not to watch TV makes me superior to you, @canidmajor. We all answer to our own inner demons.
News? 1 hour a day. If you include 60 Minutes then add that once a week.
Sitcoms? 1–2 hours a day
Documentaries? Maybe 2 hours a month, unless you count history shows then at least double that.
Public access channels? 10 hours a year. Crazy estimate I know, but it’s very sporadic.
Religious shows? None, except for a very rare happenstance.
Weather? 10–20 minutes a week unless a hurricane is coming, and it needs to be within 4 days of the coast for me to really tune in.
Movies? 1 a week.
Soap operas? None, unless you count nighttime shows that are sometimes called evening soaps. Is Grey’s Anatomy a soap?
Children’s shows? None.
Other? 1 hour dramas, unless you are including that with soap operas? 4–5 hours a week.
Realty shows: 3–4 hours a week.
Talk shows: 45 minutes.
Some of it is TV on in the background. The estimates are a little overstated, because if it’s on DVR I can fast forward commercials.
I watch TV all day while I work. And by watch I mean I have multiple monitors and Plex is going on one of them so something is playing and I glance over for a few seconds when it sounds like I should be watching.
I will never finish.
I rarely watch broadcast TV anymore.
Most of my media consumption takes place on this handy dandy electronic device in my hand.
Sometimes I watch Jeopardy and I do watch a lot of OPB (Local PBS). Other than that, I watch everything through streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Instant.
I like documentaries of all kinds and I tend to be into quirky independent movies, as well. I also love wellmade dramas, even though they break my heart. Apparently, I enjoy torturing myself. It was also surprising for me to realize that I’ve been able to really enjoy quite a few Netflix Originals. The latest was Jessica Jones and man, that one really surprised me. I had read nothing about it before watching and I bingewatched it like you wouldn’t believe. I had no idea how well it would end up tackling the issue of rape and other women’s issues, and it blew all other female “superhero” roles out of the water and into another universe. Put like that, it sounds so cheesy – but I was very impressed by it. It was a first in many ways, and it was a long time coming!
Sorry, I always get really excited when there are progressive steps taken toward the elimination of stereotypes and gender roles. It was just so refreshing to watch a woman who seemed like a fully rounded human being and not just some huge boobs in a tight shirt.
About 3 hours of news a day.
The Daily Show.
Colbert’s Late Show.
Big Bang.
South Park.
Some sci fi, a lot of movies, and reruns of Law & Order and House.
9. Crime shows (like the first 48 on A&E)
2. Do you mean series if so; Girlfriends, King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond
7. Cartoons (spongebob)
5. Tyra Banks
3. Local News 10pm
1. Film
4. Music Videos
8. Religious shows
7. Sports
On the contrary, @ibstubro, my reference was self-deprecating, not to censure anyone else’s choices. :-)
@ibstubro
But your choosing to not eat meat, does make you superior.
I watched a few minutes of Have I got News for You, @flutherother, and it was hilarious.
I watch these pretty much every episode
Ash vs Evil Dead
Blacklist
Blind Spot
Chopped
Walking Dead
Morning Joe
60 Minutes
Sat Night Live
Dual Survivor
@ibstubro It’s a very long running popular programme over here. There’s nothing quite like it in the States as far as I know which is a pity.
I forgot House Hunters and H.H. International.
My daughter has talked my wife and me into watching Game of Thrones.

The shows that I watch on television are, “South Park, Family Guy, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force,” because they make me laugh a lot.
