Are you glad your spouse goes to sleep at a different time?

Asked by JLeslie (65743points) January 3rd, 2016 from iPhone

Or, do you hate it?

Do the different sleep schedules give you alone time you are grateful for? Or, do you feel like it causes you to be more disconnected?

What do you do while your spouse sleeps?

My husband doesn’t like going to bed without me. It’s just become a habit that we go to bed at the same time. It feels weird to me to not do this. However, if he says ‘it’s time for bed’ it irritates me at times. He prefers to go to bed earlier than I do. But as I said, we’ve got into the habit of going to bed at the same time. So usually I go to bed with him, but I read in bed. Sometimes I will stay up on my own, but mostly we go to bed at the same time.

I like it. It gives us both some me time; her in the morning, me at night.

The wife is a big snoozer and requires considerably more sleep than myself. I love the wee small hours when the phone doesn’t ring and I can get things done.

I’m not married and I never was, so I’m relatively clueless, but doesn’t going to bed at different times have the potential to be detrimental to your sex life?

@jca Sleep and sex are different. Sometimes I go to bed when my husband does, we have some pillow talk, watch some TV, maybe fool around, and then when he is falling asleep, if I’m not tired enough, I get up and leave the room.

Love and hate. I like going to bed later but I hate it if I walk in the room and he’s already snoring. If we go to bed at the same time, it’s nice to cuddle and I fall asleep faster because he usually doesn’t start to snore right away.
I’m a night bird, so it’s hard to go to bed too early for me. But I wake up the same time every morning, no matter how much or little sleep I have had.

I like to go to bed at the same time. We pretty much have the same sleep pattern anyway and my favourite time of the day is the time we spend between going to bed and going to sleep. We might have some sexy time or just cuddle, chat and laugh but whatever we do, it’s always nice to have just us time.
