David Bowie passed away on Sunday of cancer. A quiet battle he had been waging for the last 18 months. His latest album was just released on Friday; Blackstar. It is his 47th album. Ziggy Stardust was 69.
I’m stunned, personally.
Care to give a raised beverage toast in his honor?

Yes, and terribly sad to do so.
:-(
I liked him in Labyrinth .
I did not know. The man who fell to earth has returned to the stars.
I woke up to this news. Incredible. Many songs I grew up with were his.
He was great in “Invasion USA”.
Fuck this year already.
So hard.
Whoa. That took me by such a surprise. Farewell Ziggy Stardust!
I was informed just before I logged on. Unique energy and gift for painting pictures and evoking moods with his well chosen words. Too much to completely process yet. This is going to take a while.

His music and his persona helped me as a young gay teenager in the 70s. I’m very sad.
“Ground Control to Major Tom: Well done. Over and out.”
I’d been hearing the hype that has latest album was released, but his passing caught me totally by surprise.
I happened to see him live on Broadway in “The Elephant Man”, something he’s not often noted for.
RIP

Carry the news…”
Today, it’s the sad news of David Bowie’s passing. What a brilliant and prolific career, and one that constantly evolved.
Watching Labyrinth with tears in my eyes.
I… Can’t live… Within you
His ex (Angie) is in the current series of CBB, the producers informed her of his death & she chose to remain in the house. Social media is up in arms, deriding her as a disgusting bitch.

Through the 70s and 80s, Bowie was one of the handful of acts whose albums I always bought as soon as they were released.
RIP, David. I was very sad to hear you had to go through 18 months with cancer.
Sad news on awaking this morning, but I look forward to hearing Blackstar, a farewell gift to the world.

Oh we can be Heroes

His was the best concert I have ever been to. A very bright star that saw me through my teen years has been snuffed out. Goodbye David. Thanks for all the songs.
Bowie was innovative and fearless. I’m so sad.
Saw him in Auckland 1983, I’ll never forget the sound of a train running between the huge outdoor speakers on Station to Station. I feel a sadness I have not felt when other musicians have died.
The new album is fantastic. I’m still crying.
I’m certain it will remarked on, but I haven’t seen it yet. He kept his illness a secret. That was an act of truly high class.
^Absolutely. The Kardashians would have milked it.
To a true artist, now a legend: Salute!
Applying more glitter to my face. It’s helping.
CBC Canada put this up. You really should watch this.
I can’t use the link. Is it the same thing as this?
No, it’s a panel made up of musicians, a music critic and a fashion critic discussing his work. I really enjoyed it.
I still can’t wrap my head around it. That David Bowie is gone is one of the most stunning celebrity losses I can imagine. So vibrant, and classy, and real, and expressive. Gone. David is too great a force to just go. Never did I hear a word about his battle with cancer.
Geez. I just celebrated his birthday, Youtubin’ and thinking what a hottie he still is, and then he is gone. I watched Labyrinth, and wished news would spring that he was just another one of those death hoaxes being posted on social media. Instead, one tribute after another rolled forth.
David, you will live on in human hearts for a very long time. Mine will hold you as long as it can.
Yes, big fat bummer. I heard the news yesterday. Takes me back, way back…aah, tis the season now where loved ones and icons are starting to drop like flies. Where has the last 30 something years gone anyway? Poof

A good friend of mine from my hometown is playing keyboards with him here.
Small world.
Thanks for the link to the video @Mama_Cakes, a great discussion about Bowie.
