What does your dock look like?
If you have Mac OS X I want to see what your dock looks like so I can see how I should make mine.

Put the applications you use the most on the left in whatever order makes sense to you, then put shortcuts to folders you access a lot on the right.
That’s the nice thing about the Dock – customize it the way it works for you.
Leopard. And Left to Right:
Finder, Word, Firefox, Adium, Limewire, Acquisition, Transmission, iTunes, iSquint, iPhoto, Photobooth, ImageBrowser, CameraWindow, EOS Utility, Stickies
@allie what is the point of limewire if you have acquisition??? Acquisition is way better. plus limewire crashes macs
swimmingdude: I don’t friggin’ know why I have it. Some of the stuff on my dock I don’t even use anymore. I don’t even really use Acquisition either. I use mostly Mininova and isoHunt now. Thanks for bringing that up. I guess it’s time to clean house.
like this
for those wondering, the cassette tape is logic studio, but since i’m quite short of making golden records, i’ll stick to the tape, the rest pretty much explains itself, the green balloon is adium and there’s stack of emulators and downloads on the right
@dangdang,
i don’t know how to put it any other way, but that’s just pathetic, that’s like putting a ferrari logo on a mini cooper…get a mac
I’m not at my computer right now, but my dock has so much shit on/in (?) it that I never use. I’ll clean that out tonight when I get home.
Haha! Thanks iwamoto! I feel the same way I just can’t get myself to buy a Mac. Obviously I like the Mac look but just not the price or the UI. The min/max/close on the left instead of the right gets me every time. :)
You have to admit it isn’t a half bad looking imitation thought, right?
Haha. I got my mac and am never going back. Unless I run windows on boot camp.
@dangdang make the right choice like iwamoto said. It was pathetic but a pretty good imitation.
dangdang: Holy cow, I completely forgot that the min/max/close is at the right on Windows. I haven’t used that in agesssssssssss.
swimmingdude: I’ll never use anything other than Macs anymore either. =) FYI: Limewire no longer exists on my MBP.
JP: What are some of those? The rubber ducky, Ps, Ai, orange cone, red bird, and red circle with the squiggly “S” thing in it?
@Allie
-Cyberduck
-Photoshop
-Illustrator
-VLC
-Phoenix Slides
-Last.fm
Thanks for all your answers. I will show you a final pic as soon as I can. Just that my Mac got messed up and I am on my old PC now. So I ‘ll get a pick A.S.A.P.
made a picture for you (the grab application is in the picture just to take the picture)
My Dock (png file)
@btko Nice background. Where’d you get it? and nice dock. The cleanest I’ve ever seen mine’s a mess!
@btko I imagine you a very organized minimalist.
@tiny That’s what I think
@swimmindude####: Thanks, this is one of my favourite backgrounds I found it at Good-Walls. They have quite a few wicked walls. This guy has some cool ones too.
@tiny, I just love a clean desktop… to me a clean slate has more potential. My apartment is the same I suppose. :p
This question is just one letter away from something much more troubling.
KOCK?
didn’t want to mention it, but there was a thread on one forum I belong to and it was “how big is your dock”
We know PnT, just messin’ with you.
OK, it’s late I’m tired. My subtle-detector is shot for the day.
Hidden and out-of-sight. Use Quicksilver and Alt-tab.
@Geaux
Don’t you mean command + tab?
@crunch how did you get your dock to be silver at the bottom and to light up when an application is in use?
@crunchaweezy I’ve only been using a Mac for 7 years now… you’d think I’d be able to stare down at my keyboard and get that right. Yes, Command + Tab.
@Geaux
I’ve only been using the Mac for 1 year ;) I probably know my way around better than long time users. Hehe.
Apple really sucked me in, the iPod is what did it for me. I now own 2 Macbook Pro’s, 2 iMacs and 3 iPhones and pretty much run a side business using my Macs
why do you need 3 phones? :o
@btko
Well, I’ve got the original and the 3G in both colors.
why not sell the original and mail me one of your extra 3G’s? :p
@btko I would like that!!!! for me of course
I keep nothing but the finder, a couple of stacks, and any currently running applications on the dock. To open applications I use Quicksilver and Overflow – much more useful.
@iwamoto My Dock looks alot like your first one but now I need to switch it up
I think i have Dock envy… that sounded so wrong
@crunchaweezy: where did you get those adobe icons? they’re sweet.
Gah, don’t even remember. After some quick digging around, I’ve come up with a few, but not the blue feather. I’ll keep looking..
Illustrator
Photoshop
I thought that the blue feather was Mozilla’s seamonkey.
Well, one thing’s for sure, it’s not a monkey
My dock
I keep it on the right side. Since my monitor is wider than it is tall I feel like it’s a better use of space to keep it on the side.
From top to bottom: Finder, Omniweb, NetNewsWire, Mail, Adium, Camino, Safari, Firefox, iTunes, iPhoto, Imagewell, Textmate, Transmit, Sleep Display (puts monitors to sleep when you click it), Address Book, World of Warcraft, Parallels, Spore Creature Creator, Diablo II.
hmm, that’s strange. it’s just loading forever here.
anyone care to put up a mirror? imageshack should do it.
Thank you!
It’s a nice dock, only nice icons there.
Welcome. And i don’t know who you are saying thanks to me or StellarAirman
care to take a look at mine ? see how long it is ? what ? yeah i get off at 6, yeah i’d love to. uhu, okay i’ll see you there then
Mine is here. Just took a picture for now, fixing it now that I see all the good ones.
The link is here. Sorry I forgot.
My dock is minimal. I really only use it for watching to see which app is running and minimizing windows to (when I’m not just hiding the app).
I have used Butler for a long time. It’s a menubar launcher tool, it’s free and it’s thin. It’s basically a re-do of an app I used to use with OS 9 because “Classic” was helping my workflow. Butler also supports keyboard shortcuts for apps, which is great because I can just hit a key combo and ZAP I have my app opened without clicking a thing. It hs several other features that you should check out too.

The guy is constantly updating it and improving on it. I love it!
My dock is this. It is ok but now I am going to try Butler. Maccmann My I see your dock if you don’t mind.
mine at the moment
edit: what the…i get that as an output, let’s see if we can do something about that
well, let’s do it big then
wallpaper, want!!
i love that wallpaper, would it be possible to provide a link?
Here it is. I usually have it hidden and magnification on. Minimal. I have 3 Firefox windows open with multiple tabs. This is usually what I have running at all times. I do alot of research and just shut the lid on my MacBook Pro to sleep it, occasionally restarting to keep it from getting too nasty.
Notice the mini-icons in the menubar. That would be Butler!
