Very sad. Consummate actor. Excelled in everything he did. This is truly a shame.

Very handsome and a great actor.

Also, on another unrelated note, the second famous person to die within the week (along with David Bowie) who was 69. I always say 69 is a great number.

I couldn’t believe it either, actually teared up a bit, takes a lot for that too.

Lemmy, Bowie, and now Rickman. Seriously, my feels cannot take this abuse.

Me & my daughter watched all the Potter films again throughout xmas & were reminded how every scene he’s in just pops, steals the show as he did as Gruber.

He was the perfect embodiment of Severus Snape in the Harry Potter films. He was great in so many other movies, including Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, Die Hard, Galaxy Quest, Quigley Down Under, and even films like Sense and Sensibility. A marvelous actor

If you haven’t seen Snow Cake, I recommend it.

Shocking and very sad.

One of my favorite actors. He had great range. I was never a fan of the Potter eries, but I loved him in most of his other films, especially “Love, Actually” and “Galaxy Quest.”

RIP, Mr. Rickman. If you’re in heaven, your deep and distinctive voice may be mistaken for God’s.

janbb's avatar

@Pachy Yeah – and he got there before James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman.

Jak's avatar

@Pachy. Funny you say that. He was the voice of God in Dogma. Great actor. Very tongue-in-cheek. Going back to bed.

Voice of God?

Heck, he was the voice of Marvin, The Paranoid Android. (2005 film).

So many celebs dropping like flies on either side of the new year must be giving the death pool set fits.

By Grabthar’s Hammer, by the Suns of Worvan, he shall be avenged.

Truly Madly Deeply needs a mention.

janbb's avatar

@ucme Yes – first thing I saw him in and loved it.

“Perfume” also needs a mention.

So many memorable roles. Lovely speaking voice, great wit. He could convey a world of meaning with a look. He will be missed.

rojo's avatar

I have always admired the characters he played. He will always have a place in my heart.

Hah! “No more merciful beheadings, cancel the kitchen scraps for orphans and widows, and call off Christmas.”

An extraordinarily talented actor with a glorious voice, very sad.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

It’s just too sad. I want the celebrity deaths to end now. No more. No more people we love and cherish can pop off this mortal plane. No more I tell you 2016!!!

dappled_leaves's avatar

@ucme Truly, Madly, Deeply was the first film I saw him in, and on that basis I would watch anything he ever did. He will be missed.
