The VeggieTales series are great. They are entertaining for adults as well (since kids will probably watch it a million times) and they have a great moral/message.

The Little Prince is both very good and very advanced.

VeggieTales are Christian, though, so if that's not the religion of these kids, better go a different direction. My cousins of similar ages adore "High School Musical".

anything by Tom Waits, my kids loved them, called them great story songs.

Most of the VeggieTales videos mention God, but make no mention of Jesus, so they might be OK for Jewish, Muslim or Bahai. Especially those that focus on Old Testament stories, like Dave and the Giant Pickle.

Over the Hedge, animated film with a subtle environmental theme. Oh yeah, and did I mention it's HILARIOUS.

Octonauts might be good for that age range?

But the OP’s kids are now 21 and 24!
