"Well look" vs. the new "So"... why either?

Putting aside the sad truth that I’m watching way too much TV during this god-awful political cycle…

Have you noticed that when asked a question by a moderator or desk anchor, respondents have begun replacing the annoying “So” with the annoying “Well look” as the lead-in phrase to their answer—an attempt, I suspect, to seem more authoritative. Anyone else both lead-ins as annoying as I?
