Kind of hard to pick an absolute favorite, sort of depends on mood, time of day, alone or with another. The one that gets me moving any time of day or night though:
Brown Sugar
“Wild Horses”
I don’t even need to think about my answer.
Gimme Shelter. Merry Clayton is incredible. The moment when her voice breaks is oddly beautiful. An “imperfection” like that wouldn’t make it into the final cut of a song nowadays, but I definitely think it makes the song better.
Sympathy for the Devil would have to be my answer.
You can’t always get what you want (the version with the London Philharmonic playing background)
Heart of Stone
Have Mercy
Get off My Cloud
Paint it Black
Heartbreaker
Start Me Up
Love is Strong
Angie.
I hate the rest. Except maybe Honkey Tonk Woman.
Wild Horses is good…but they get to singing off key and that grates on my nerves.
Probably Gimme Shelter, but a couple of my contenders haven’t been mentioned yet:
Jig-Saw Puzzle
Street Fighting Man
It’s like asking me to pick only one from a box of Godiva chocolates. Sometimes I want the dark ones, sometimes I want only sweet ones and sometimes gimme all them nuts. Sorry – can’t pick just one!
I like a bunch:
Two I most love are 2,000 Light Years from Home and Monkey Man. Very popular when I was a young teen is my third favorite, Miss You.
Runners up: Sympathy for the Devil and Paint It Black. Honorable Mention: Gimme Shelter.
Many, but I never tire of Sympathy for the Devil.
Too hard to pick. I really couldn’t.
I don’t think I can pick just one. I really like the totality of the album Some Girls.
Here are my favorite Rolling Stones songs:
– (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction
– Sympathy for the Devil
– You Can’t Always Get What You Want
– Paint It Black
– Gimme Shelter
