Do you ever eat fennel?
I never even knew fennel existed (I am not the most observant person) until I came across a recipe for it. It must be the least discussed vegetable, but there must be enough people who eat it for it to be carried by supermarkets. I like fennel as a change of pace. Its licorice-like flavor is a bit exotic, but I enjoy it as an occasional centerpiece of a stew.

Thanks! I will have to try it with fish sometime. And I was totally unaware of medicinal aspects.
No, but I use fennel toothpaste from Trader Joe’s.
About six months ago, they had no more and they told me there was an issue with the supplier. It came back after about two months and I bought two tubes, to “cast my vote.” I believe Tom’s of Maine makes it, too.
I also have fennel peppermint tea, but have not yet opened the box. I got it on clearance somewhere.
I made lobster pot pie that had a slug of Fennel root in the recipe that I served for Christmas eve that my relatives are still talking about. It was both unexpected and amazing in flavor. And nothing works better for an upset belly than chewing on fennel seeds.
I love it raw in salads even. Endive is another under rated veg.
In paella. It brings out all flavors magnificently. It is more effective than a splash of Pernot which, if you’re not careful, can easily overpower all the flavors and ruin the dish. It also gives a nice dimention to the bland northern fishes like cod or haddock.
Fennel is heavenly. I use the bulb as a vegetable, and I keep some dried seeds in my spice rack for a seasoning.
If you dig-around online for some uses of fennel, you’ll find some very appealing ideas.
