Asked by gatablanca (37points) July 25th, 2008

I’ve heard of this saint but I don’t know what he has done to become a saint, if you know who he was I would greatly appreciate it

He was Louis IX, king of France from 1226–1270. He got to be a saint by being a political and military strongman for Pope Gregory IX. He launched two crusades, purchased the Crown of Thorns and True Cross relics from the Byzantine emperor for an exorbitant price, purged many Jews from France and squashed the Cathar heresy in southern France by broadening the Inquisition there. source

In short, he was a model Christian. JK!
