Oh wow… that’s really sad news. His lecture was so inspiring.
I would offer one lesson that I have learned: believe in the kindness of strangers and in the promise of human potential. And, whenever possible, try and help others out too.
He was an inspiration.
I was sad to hear the news this morning though somehow I do not think
he would want us to mourn his loss but to enjoy in our lives.
“When I set out to lead humanity along my Golden Path I promised a lesson their bones would remember. I know a profound pattern humans deny with words even while their actions affirm it. They say they seek security and quite, conditions they call peace. Even as they speak, they create seeds of turmoil and violence.”
____-Leto II, The God Emperor, Frank Herburt, “Chapterhouse Dune.”
Rules build up fortifications behind which small minds create satrapies. A perilous state of affairs in the best of times, disastrous during crisis.
____-Bene Gesserit Coda, Frank Herburt, “Chapterhouse Dune.”
“We tend to become like the worst in those we oppose.”
____-Bene Gesserit Coda, Frank Herburt, “Chapterhouse Dune.”
“You cannot manipulate a marionette with only one string.”
____-The Zensunni Whip, Frank Herburt, “Chapterhouse Dune.”
Frank Herburt is much better with words than I, Just like I would not go preaching the bible without quoting Jesus, I cannot restate what Herbert says without using his own words.

Be good, for goodness’ sake. It pretty much all boils down to that :)
Choose you circles with great care, but love with great abandon.
