What would you tell a teacher when you say you have to use the restroom, and he/she says that you should have went during travel time?

I would say, “Because, you know, sometimes YOU DON’T NEED TO GO DURING TRAVEL TIME!!!”

~ I would call her a bitch and threaten to pee out the school bus window If she doesn’t pull over. DON’T take my advice. ~
What does that mean “travel time?”
I wouldn’t tell a teacher anything if he/she had told me that I “should have went during travel time”. At first I’d be too surprised to hear that sequence of words from a teacher’s mouth, and then I’d be laughing too hard.
I believe in the UK “travel time” means time between classes.
Do you have a habit of using the bathroom a lot during his or her classes? If I were you, knowing what this teacher is like, I would do my best to try to go that particular class and avoid the conflict altogether.
But if you truly have an emergency, just say “sorry, (teacher’s name), but I really do need to use the facilities. I’ll return quickly.” Just don’t make it a habit and you should be fine.
Oh then I would say “if you gotta go , then you gotta go.”
I would tell the teacher that if he or she doesn’t let you go, you’re going to pee on the floor.
I agree with the sentiment of @CWOTUS. You have a teacher who needs an English lesson.
“I was not asking for your permission.” And then I would leave.
If it almost never is something I ask for I’d tell them “I need to go, I’ve never asked before, so obviously I don’t abuse it, I’m sorry for the inconvenience to the class,” and I’d walk out and go to the bathroom.
If I ask all the time, I’d drink less before class or go to the doctor to find out why I need to per so much.
My teachers have said that a few times. However, I respect their rulea as a student, especially because it is my responsibility to maintain my time responsibilities. But, if I really need to go, I would really say, “Mr./s. ______, I really, really need to go to the bathroom. It’s an emergency!”
My junior year pre-calc teacher was always like that. One day when we had him after lunch period, I asked to use the bubbler. He said no and that I should’ve used it while I was at lunch. We argued for at least 5 minutes about why I should/shouldn’t go. The bubbler was right across the hallway. You could see it from inside the classroom. I won. I used it and was back in less than 20 seconds. He was such a jerk.
It’s weird that people have control over when other people go to the bathroom, in school or work or anything. I think using the bathroom is a basic right.
You may want to get your parents involved and have them talk to the principal. Not letting someone go to the bathroom is wrong in my opinion. I really hate when they do it to little kids and they end up scared to even ask.
It happened so much at my school. One of my theology teachers even put it in her syllabus. I remember her saying this: “Using the restrooms will not be permitted. So hit the lavs before class has begun.”
That is, take time to go in the 5-minute interval you have to get between classes. What if all 1300 of us in the school had to follow this rule?
Oh if only I knew then what I know now. There’s so much I would’ve said to all the teachers who disrespected me. Unfortunately there were many. But I wasn’t wise enough, and the environment there made it threatening to even mentally question our authorities. They really do take advantage of a kid’s developing mind.
I hate this shit. Especially when they say it to girls. I’m sorry that I’m 14 years old and haven’t yet mastered the art of identifying precisely when my tampon needs to be changed. I’m sorry I didn’t go to the bathroom during the 3 minutes you give me to change classrooms, which would have resulted in you being upset with me for a different reason, being late to class. I’m sorry but even if I should have gone during the travel time, that doesn’t undo the fact that I still need to use the bathroom now! Not to mention that diseases like IBS, IBD, interstitial cystitis, etc could be a factor.
Just go if you have to go. Deal with the consequences later.
I actually had this happen to me when I was like freaking 30 years old. It happened several times to me while taking up a mandatory course while collecting TRA benefits after getting terminated from a company that moved its work overseas.
For some odd reason this instructor was very strict with me, including with letting me go to the bathroom. She did not use ‘travel time’, but would ask me why I didn’t go between classes when I wanted to use the bathroom.
Basically you would say what I did: I did not have to go to the bathroom before, and I have to go very badly. Unless this question is satire, what else would you say!?
