Why is it that cats have nine lives in north america and in south america 7?

IN SOUTH AMERICA CATS HAVE 6 LIVES AND IN NORTH AMERICA THEY HAVE 9 LIVES- DO YOU HAVE THE ANSWER TO THIS??

Or, life expectancy rates in NoAm are longer, so our cats just follow along. Though, that’s not a very cat-like thing to do.
