Will Srikanth Srinivasan be the next Supreme Court appointee?

Asked by msh (4270points) February 14th, 2016 from iPhone

This individual’s name has been bandied about as the next Justice to be seated on the Supreme Court panel of judges. Not liberal. Not conservative. But right smack in the middle of the road. I am not surprised. He was the first person I thought of, when the dust was beginning to settle after Scalia’s demise on Saturday.(2/13/16)
What do You think about him?

This article is from a ‘tad bit right of center’ news source on him and possible other candidates for an appointment. Why choose this opinion? It has the best comprehensive coverage at this time:

In 2013 USA Today thought he would possibly become a Supreme Court Justice. We will see shortly.

Whoever it is please, please God don’t make law from the bench.

And always remember the US Constitution is you guide.

In other words, distinguish yourself.

Srinivasan looks really good. Too bad Republicans have vowed to deny Obama another nomination.

Everything is so short sighted in American politics today.

Blocking Obama from making any appointment is sure to bring out additional Democratic voters in the next election. Even people that see the Clinton/Sanders race as lose/lose (and might just stay home) can see that it’s important to not let Trump/Cruz make the next 1–3 justice nominees.
Conversely, the Republicans cutting their loses and accepting the most moderate justice possible would make them look like they want to get things done. Helping the Republican Pres. candidate and possibly getting conservative justices the next 2–3.
What idiots.

Sri Srinivasan looks like an apt choice.
Whose poster boy do you suppose Jindal will be in that contest, if it comes to that? lol

The irony there is that Republican threats of blocking any appointment by the current administration allows for the possibility of President Clinton/Sanders nominating a certain well-known constitutional law professor who already has experience in the high levels of both the Legislative and Executive branch.

Of course, that person won’t be free to take the position until January 2017 anyways so the GOP stonewalling may backfire quite spectacularly, especially if the Democrats also gain some seats in congress to allow anyone nominated by a Democrat POTUS to have a chance.

@jerv: That’s what we were speculating yesterday. Obama as Justice for the next 30 years – wouldn’t that be a great backfire!

The press has already asked about Obama on the bench. Clinton said it sounded like a good idea, but when the scenario was put to Obama, he said he’d decline, saying he’s lived long enough in a surrealistic bubble.

And as a former president of the United States, exactly how soon does Obama think that surrealistic bubble is going to burst?
