How did the drowning of a child end in Calgary winters ago? (details inside)

There was a father who lost his son under the ice in Calgary, Alberta years ago. The father took a cutting tool to the ice and was determined to recover his sons body. Did he ever recover his son? How did the story end?

Aren’t you the one who lives in the region? How are any of us going to have any better resources for finding out than the archives of your local library?

@Buttonstc It made international news. I was hoping that someone remembered it.

@Seek No. The father digged for days with a chainsaw after the dive teams gave up . The father was Asian.
