Will the postal carrier get mad if I get 18 soft covered books delivered on March 2 from Amazon?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) February 20th, 2016

I ordered 45 books from Amazon and 18 of them will be delivered on the same day. March 2 is the biggest amount. I warned the postal carrier and she laughed and said “YOU”. Most of the books I got for a $0.01 and $6.49 shipping and most are soft covered. I only ordered books that I actually want. I switched to audio books for now so it’s not likely going to happen again. Do I have anything to worry about? The office next door, (my landlord ) , gets any mail that doesn’t fit in my mail box. They go upstairs and hand them to me.

It’s their job. If it made them mad, they probably would’ve found a different career.

Who serves who? He serves you or you serve him?

Nope, they don’t mind. The postman goes by your residence if he has something for you or not.

Postal carriers handle all sorts of packages of varying size and bulk. Yours is far from the worst he’s handled.

She seems to know you, and I’d bet that she’s touched that you thought to warn her ahead of time like that. Otherwise, no, it might be a bulkier bag for her on the day, for a while, but she’ll work it out.

We don’t know your postal carrier, but when my son moved back home he had 21 large boxes shipped through the postal service. They were delivered over the space of three or four days. No one complained. Why should they? It’s a service they sell. They want people to use it and pay for it.

No, they won’t get mad. Remember them next Christmas time with a tip of a few dollars.

Um … maybe in Canada. It is against US Postal regulations for carriers to accept money as tips at any time in the USA. Which is not to say that it never happens, but it could put the carrier in an awkward spot if he or she is trying to follow the regulations, and doesn’t want to appear ungrateful or disrespectful.

This is the relevant rule.

I wouldn’t worry. Last summer I ordered a 150 pound air conditioner and they had to walk up a pretty big hill and a flight of stairs with it. 18 books is no big thing.

No, its part of their job to do that. My sister orders a lot books from online all the time and the delivery people don’t seem to mind at all. The only thing I have to worry about is one of my next door neighbours. They have a bit of a chip on their shoulder and they get very pissy if the delivery service asks them to take packages in for us. So whenever I order stuff on Amazon I always track my package to get a rough idea of when its due.

My postal carrier went on holidays , or quit , and I flirt with the cute replacement. I have ordered 65 groups of items on Amazon.
