Of course it is, look at some of the recent threads where people cling to beliefs of their political party and the perceived beliefs of other parties as a christian would view jesus and satan.
Not according to Karl Marx
@NerdyKeith You are certainly living up to your name, my god man, does your brain ever rest? lol
Sure, anyone can justify /rationalize their off the wall beliefs and connect dots that most of us would never be able to connect, short of an LSD trip.
@Coloma Kind of an off the wall response.
There is a strong strain of Catholic communists such as Dorothy Day. There was a paper called “The Catholic Worker.”
@janbb Well, not really, in my mind anyway. haha
Sure.
Just like you can be an atheist and believe in democracy and capitalism. Even though some people think that isn’t possible.
Don’t confuse communism with Marxism.
Yeah, I had to do a brief brush-up on communism and socialism.
Communism has been defined in the modern era by Marxism, @cazzie.
@Coloma Lol a lot of my questions are revisited questions from my Yahoo Answers. I’m putting many of them on Fluther in case Yahoo Answers becomes a retired product from Yahoo. So at least that way, they will be still on the internet.
Yes @ibstubro we need to remember historic content to terms. Make Uberto Eco proud.
Sure it’s possible. It depends of what form of Communism you’re talking about since there are at least 20 different types.
Got questions other than religious and political? Seriously, those two are beat to death.
If you’re talking communism with a small “c”, look at any religious order whose members take a vow of poverty. Living in poverty, as far as religious orders are concerned, does not mean living a life of deprivation, only a life of not owning anything. Everything is owned by the community. Even such things as prayer books are not owned by individuals, but by the community for the use of individuals.
@MollyMcGuire, I will eventually get around to some questions unrelated to religion. I’m migrating a lot of my old Yahoo content.
Expect some LGBT, tech, movie, television related questions. But I’m very interested in philosphy so a large portion of my questions will be revolved around this.
Yes. Where is the conflict between the two?
