How has the treatment of Obama by the Republican Congress effected the party's goal of improving its dismal reputation among the country's black population.

The republicans treated Obama like dirt and tried to delegitimize him every chance they got. Sometimes overt racism, sometimes more subtle.

Now they are reaping the fruit of that asinine strategy.

The republicans commissioned a report after the 2012 elections that told them how to make advances with blacks, hispanics, and other minorities. The republicans ignored every word of it, so this is what they get.

Crocodile tears.

I agree that the hope of enhancing Hispanic numbers in the party is also pretty grim.

Crocodile tears? More like a Cheshire Cat, grinning at how well the GOP has defined itself. The frontrunner of the party is embraced by the Ku Klux Klan and white supremacist groups. There was never any real hope of expanding black membership in the party, the party never wanted that.

Rather than seek to expand the electorate, they have fought to restrict it.

Well, according to this
only 6% of black voters would vote republican anyway, so I doubt it made any appreciable dent in the number of black republican voters.

Things could trend a little differently if Farrakhan continues to preach this sermon over the next 32 Sundays.

“I do not blame you for wanting a female president, but that’s a wicked woman,” Farrakhan said. “You can vote for her, but vote for her with knowledge.”

He added she is just talking about black people stuff to get the vote.

“All of the sudden she know about Trayvon Martin — all of the sudden, the boy been dead nearly two years,” he said. “Now, she’s talking about him like she met the mother and oh … these white people, this is Satan.”

@ibstubro The irony that it’s only the black people see through Hillary’s phoniness and pandering to the black voter. Just being a woman is sufficiently not reason enough for me to vote for her especially after her sketchy political past. I’m as frustrated as the next guy over establishment politics and do desire a real overhaul of the way Congress conducts itself. Sanders appeals to the liberal voters who want change in congress and he speaks a solid message in that regard but I cannot bring myself to vote for a card carrying Socialist who I feel will only serve to make our fiscal matters and economy much much worse. The Donald is hugely popular because of his ability to seize the 3rd rail and not get hurt by his bombastic messaging but I don’t believe one word of his message stunts and would never cast a vote for him.

I can assure you that my contempt for Obama has to do with his blatant disregard for his oath.

Most specifically to “uphold the Constitution.” His perceived racial makeup has absolutely nothing to do with it.

But, just as I predicted before his first win, there would be multitudes that would dismiss his critics as “racists.”

I am alarmed by the content of his character, nothing more.
