What is your reaction on this?

I have to see the movie first. Great job in Gilbert Grape.

I did not watch and do not care.

I think he is not all that good of an actor, and I think he won only because judges mistake eating a raw fish and filming in snow, with an actual good performance and acting ability.

As has been much discussed in the entertainment press, it was a great piece of acting in a pretty good film, but it was probably not the best he has ever done. Many thought he should have won for Wolf of Wall Street, or The Aviator. or Blood Diamond.

So in many ways, the vote was “it’s his turn”.

Its about time. I’ve always wanted him to get an oscar. I’m not a die hard fan of him either, but I do admire him as an actor.

Like several others said above, he’s a good enough actor, but given the competition, I think he won more because it “was his turn” rather than his performance.

I think he deserved it, The Revenant was a pretty gritty film and he did an excellent job, going so far as to actually eat a raw Bison liver in the Buffalo scene for authenticity sake.
That was a grueling shoot, took a lot of commitment and endurance.

I loved the film, a little draggy in spots but all in all riveting.

Well, you don’t win an Oscar for being a great guy. It never even occurred to me to turn on the award show. As far as I’m concerned it is completely irrelevant.
