I think it’s been too long since we revisited this old Fluther gem of a question!

My Church by Maren Morris is mine.
[Verse 1]
I’ve cussed on a Sunday
I’ve cheated and I’ve lied
I’ve fallen down from grace
A few too many times
But I find holy redemption
When I put this car in drive
Roll the windows down and turn up the dial
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that’s my church
[Verse 2]
When Hank bring the sermon
And Cash leads the choir
It gets my cold, cold heart burning
Hotter than a ring of fire
When this wonderful world gets heavy
And I need to find my escape
I just keep the wheels rolling, radio scrolling
Until my sins wash away
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that’s my church
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that’s my church
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that’s my church
Yeah I guess that’s my church
Yeah I guess that’s my church
“Cream and Bastards Rise” by Harvey Danger.

It’s a song about the growing phenomenon of more work being piled on the doers while other manipulative types reap the rewards.
England Swings (like a pendulum do) Bobbies on Bicycles two by two…..Roger Miller
Sittin’ on the Dock of The Bay ever since jan posted it on Facebook last week.
Sittin’ here resting my bones
And this loneliness won’t leave me alone…
Time is racing towards us
til the Huns arrive!
Heed my every warning
and you might
survive!
I literally was just singing this. The people on the train may have been looking at me.

7 Years
“Once I was seven years old my mama told me
Go make yourself some friends or you’ll be lonely
Once I was seven years old
It was a big big world, but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure.”
Now that you mention it… Gravity by Mary Fahl.
Nothing More by Alternate Routes
We are how we treat each other, nothing more.
@CWOTUS have you heard her version of Brain Damage/Eclipse?
I have heard that; it’s on my list of favorites. (A month ago I had never even heard of her or October Project.)
Walking in My Shoes – Depeche Mode
The wife caught me wearing her Jimmy Choos on the treadmill this morning.
A bunch of Norwegian children’s songs.
“In the shuffling madness
of the Locomotive Breath
Runs the all time loser
headlong to his death”
I don’t know what it’s called but it goes:
Life’s a happy song when there’s someone by your side to sing along
It might be by the Muppets
Highlights from Bizet’s Carmen, which I saw on Sunday. Operas usually run in my head for a couple of weeks after a performance, unless it’s one of those terrible ones that don’t have any melodies to speak of. I flush those as fast as possible.
^ Loved that.
Thank you for the experience.
Note: don’t self censor. It appears weak.
FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK…
Well, now I’m thinking of this song
(Starts at 1:23)
A song of love is a sad song. Hi Lily Hi Lily Hi Lo A song of love is a song of woe, don’t ask me how I know. Hi Lily Hi Lily Hi Lo Hi Lo…..
This very dramatic Korean song about carrots.
Oh, great. Thanks for the earworm, @si3tech. Well, I guess that’s it for Carmen, anyway.
The Trumpet Shall Sound from Handel’s Messiah.
I don’t know why it’s in my head right now, but I performed it in a recital when I was in college.
Honestly, I don’t know why I do this to my self:
Sid Vicious performing My Way
My work here is done. Hashtag: ginger
Who says I don’t have wide-ranging tastes in music!
@ibstubro Thank You. I’m going to have Gary Numan nightmares.
Have a brownie and visit with the nice lamppost.
:-)
This piece has always been a particular favorite. I’ve listened to it several times tonight.
@ibstubro Brownies tonight in a raging storm, a real treat, it’s been awhile, so I will have to find some good storm tunes, ...like this…
www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_eQGsbHhDo
No lamposts, I’ll commune with the pussy cats and owls. :-)
Those brownies are bad for you. Forward them to me immediately for “proper” and safe disposal. I value your welfare to the extent that I perform this service without charge. I’ll pm the shipping particulars.
Brownies loaded with nuts are particularly dangerous. Hurry!
Hey..I’m a good nut, you guys would love to hang out with me for a brownie party. lol
What could be better than porch sitting in a big storm enhanced by a little herbal essence? :-D
Then, I shall make us a feast to beat all feasts, yep, I’ll have you two eating out my hand in no time. lol
9:42 on in the stormy ca. hills and I am having a great time, the herbal rice krispy bar is working it’s magic and I’m diggin’ this raging storm, watching the power black out on the other side of the mountain here , wild wind, lightening and grovvin’ to these guys while eating stale coconut marshmallows. Their great! lol
Back to the porch, enjoy this little tune. :-D

Dayum, you must be high if you can watch the power go out on the other side of the mountain.
Here is where I wound up after I listened to some of your link.
@CWOTUS She is wonderful! Thanks! I love unusual musical talent.
I had no idea how working at daycare was going to kill my libido but a lot has to do with songs in my head and it angers me. Must take steps to correct.
^ What are you smokin’? lol
Back at ya.
Watch how effortlessly he sings it. For some reason just the opening notes make me want to tear up, @Coloma.
Oh, one of my favs, @Coloma.
It blew me away when I opened that video for you and saw that incredible song coming out of Cash and him not even breaking a sweat. Little more visible effort than breathing. Amazing.
@ibstubro Yes. he was really unique. Makes me want to watch the 2005 “Walk the line” again. Good flick on his life, have you ever seen it?
I’ve been enjoying this tonight.
@CWOTUS Excellent, never heard of them. Thanks!
Now it’s a Strauss waltz. I can’t get rid of it.
Something is always playing on my inner soundtrack. Always, always. I don’t know if this is common or unusual, but the music track is always running. I don’t even know if it stops when I’m drugged for a surgical procedure, but I’ll bet it doesn’t.
@Jeruba It happens to me as well. I’ll suddenly become aware that I’ve been internally humming, singing or playing a song. Even if I am not conscious of the fact that I heard the song, sometimes just a few bars from a passing car
Right now that soundtrack is playing something by Vivaldi, but I can’t recall the name of the work.
YIKES! @Coloma. That’s an ear worm.
Yes, I’ve seen the Cash movie. Decent, but I’m not a big fan of Bio-pix of people still alive in my mind. :)
Because of another question, I’ve had this song ear worm in my head today.
Happy, happy.
@Yetanotheruser, odds are it’s “The Four Seasons,” right? I’ve just switched over to something from Mozart. Better than a while ago, when it was “I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.”
@Jeruba Oh, you mean the one based on “Plaisir D’amour”, written by Jean Paul Egide Martini!
I heard it performed as part of a trumpet recital back in the early seventies!
That’s the one.
So was it “Spring”?
I’d have to guess yes…it’s the one that sounds something like this:
Daah di-da daah dah daaah daa da, daah di-da daah dah daaah daa da daah da-dah da-da-da dash.
Nope, that’s not Spring.
Mozart still going relentlessly: this one (at 1:53).
This old gem by Little Feat. Linda Ronstadt did a great rendition as well.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=iguLpoV0SXc Man..that album, “Sailin’ Shoes”, loved it, aah memories, seems like it was just a few ears ago, not 40+. haha
I love this song.
I love it so much I’ve had it in my head for days…maybe weeks…and I still like it.
I can’t say that it’s an old favorite from my youth, because I only found out about it last year sometime, but I like this.
I saw a simple sign that said Happy Holidays while we were cleaning out a house, and I’ve been stuck with it ever since.
Damn, I can’t believe this question has been dormant for 3 months! Thanks, @Yetanotheruser for the shot-in-the-arm. Even more amazing, I’m still groovin to “My Church”!
Orbison has such a distinctive voice, @Yetanotheruser. Great, great tune!
I liked “She Dances” a lot, @cazzie. I misread the band’s name and renamed them “The Thirstlads”, which I liked better, lol.
Thanks for a newview!
I was going through a stack of old 45 records I’d just bought the other day, and briefly had Queen’s B-side tune, Don’t Try Suicide stuck in my brain. Nobody gives a damn.
Death In June – The World That Summer (not so much any particular song, just the album)
Yikes
They played it on NPR for some reason, and it stuck.
“Someday love will find you
Break those chains that bind you
One night will remind you
How we touched and went our separate ways
If he ever hurts you
True love won’t desert you
You know I still love you
Though we touched and went our separate ways”
I spent the last four days working outside from 8 am until 5 pm with a “Classic Rock” radio station on and, evidently, during the last four decades there were only exactly 63 classic hits written and performed and these songs are played, re-played and played yet again over and over on classic rock music channels. Care to guess what one of these classics hits is?
Good guess!
Yep, Separate Ways by Journey!
Want to guess the other 62? Well, why don’t we save that for another question.
I’ve had Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys in my head for 2 days now!
Puce Mary – The Spiral (album, not song, but my listening tends to be full albums rather than individual tracks).
Haven’t Met You Yet by Michael Bublé.
They played it while we were eating at Dairy Queen, and, as they say, “the other half’s sluck..”
Edit: Tusk.
Thanks, @rojo!
