What music are you listening to right now (or what was the last thing you played)?
I often wake up with music playing in my head. I love having a streaming service on my phone. I can wake up, pick up my phone and listen to whatever is playing in my head for real.
This morning I’m listening to Tears for Fears.
Yesterday it was Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells.
I went to bed listening to the Blue Oyster Cult, then James Taylor.
What are you listening to right now and/or what are the last things you listened to on your play list?

I’m playing a Tim Minchin DVD. After having the Pope Song stuck in my head forever, it only felt appropriate. He’s playing Prejudice right now.
Did you hear the song he wrote about Cardinal Pell recently? He got slammed by some for it, but it was spot on. I sincerely wish there was a hell for that man and his band of paedophile brothers to go to.
I haven’t!
As soon as this DVD is over, I’m after it.
I’m listening to last night’s Reclaimed Soul show.
It’s a two hour online show. I record it every Thursday and try to listen to it over the next few days.
The host, Ayana Contreras, has an encyclopedic knowledge of 60s & 70s music, and a huge vinyl collection she draws from.
It’s both a history lesson and pure fun every week.
OK, more specific, one cut from the show.
Tyrone Davis – Turn Back The Hands Of Time
Great song and even better it’s preceded by an interview with the producers. Ayana Contreras finds people who were involved in the business back in the day and interviews them for her show.
@johnpowell, I’m not really into hip-hop but I went and listened to a few tracks by Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. It was okay. I like and respect the poetry. Are you still into Australian TV content? You should let me know what you’ve seen and I’ll tell you if there’s anything new about.
@jaykay, I went and found a site with archives for Reclaimed Soul. I’ve been listening to the ladies of Chicago’s music. It’s a great program. I’ve bookmarked it for future reference. I’ll listen to some more later.
The interview part sounds great. I really love that ‘history of music’ stuff, and especially when it’s told by the people who were actually there.
Ryan Adams self-titled album from 2014 and his amazing reimagining of Taylor Swift’s “1989” from last year — shuffled together.
I was thinking about whatthefluther and his vast knowledge of music. I heard a cover of a song by Tim Buckley and then I went back and listened to the original. It is very moving.
@Earthbound_Misfit :: Still loving AU tv. I just downloaded (literally a hour ago) the first few seasons of Jack Irish. And I have been watching Wanted. Very good BTW. However I eagerly await The Block and Masterchef kicking off again. And I have been watching Filthy Rich from NZ. It is really good and has the nice one from The Almighty Johnsens in it.
Edit :: And Big Brother Canada has Tim from the Australian one on it. That just started up and should be a mess.
I watch a lot of TV.
@johnpowell, I love Jack Irish! A new season has just started and I’ve missed the first couple. I’ll have to go hunting for it. That is really good. I never watch The Block. It’s really popular here though. I do watch Masterchef. I love George, Matt and Gary. They’re never mean to the contestants. Not seen Filthy Rich. I’ll check it out. And Wanted with Rebecca Gibney should be great. I’ve missed that one too. Hell, you’re more up-to-date with your Aussie telly than I am! I’ll have a think about what else is on that you might like. Do you have any favourite genres?
Thank you @cookieman and @marinellife, I shall look those two musicians up. I just saw The Graham Norton Show and he had a singer on called Jack Savoretti. I really liked his voice and the song he sang. I’m going to check out more of his stuff. Another singer in the same vein is Paulo Nutini. I love his music.
Thank you to everyone who’s answered my question. I forgot to click ‘good answer’ earlier, but I did come back and give you some lurve. I think I’m all maxed out on everyone here anyway!
@Earthbound_Misfit :: I like a lot of comedy stuff too. Such as Please Like Me (comedy?), Utopia, Upper Middle Bogan, and Open Slather. I also enjoyed The Nowhere Boys too even though that seems to be aimed at teens. The only thing I have regretted watching was The Wizard of Auz. Fucking horrible.
But mostly I watch dramas and comedy’s. And there was some show (scripted) about peoples love lives. I think it was the first episode that was about a guy proposing to his Asian girlfriend and on the way to mini-golf place a homeless guy pees in their sunroof after he refuses to pay for him cleaning the windshield. That was a good show.
I’ll keep my eyes open and let you know when something new comes out that everyone is raving about. I don’t know what The Wizard of Auz is. I’ll make a point of giving it a big miss. I haven’t seen Please Like Me yet. It’s really popular though! Have you seen Thank God You’re Here? It’s not been on for ages, but that was quite clever. And quite different to what you’ve named but The Gruen Transfer is a really intelligent but funny program. They look at advertisements and discuss them. They have some top ad men and it’s hosted by a comedian.
I listened to Emerson, Lake and Palmer earlier. I am now in silence but not for long. I’m headed to bed and will watch the the last 20 minutes of a Borgias episode I started earlier. What a great Showtime series; too bad it only has three seasons.
Please Like Me is a wild ride. One second it is massively hilarious. A few minutes later you are crying tears of sadness. When I watch I keep a t-shirt handy to wipe the tears of sadness.
But it is fucking fantastic. Just has moments of incredible sadness.
Woke up with King Volcano by Bauhaus in my head.
