In "PMD: Explorers of Time and Darkness", why does the human who turned into a pokemon and his partner call themselves (in Japanese) "Team Pokedans"?

What does it mean? What is the etymology of this name?

I’m not sure if you’re reffering to the anime or the video game. It’s called “pokepals” for overseas releases, which could be translated as pokemon friends.

And of course, because they need a default name for the team.
