Anyone care to join me in saying a respectful 'Goodbye" to former first lady Nancy Reagan, who passed away Sunday, 3-6-16 at the ripe old age of 94?

Asked by ibstubro (18804points) March 6th, 2016

I think Barbara Bush said it well:

”‘Nancy Reagan was totally devoted to President Reagan, and we take comfort that they will be reunited once more,” former first lady Barbara Bush said in a statement on behalf of herself and her husband, former President George H. W. Bush. “George and I send our prayers and condolences to her family.”

With Nancy Reagan’s passing, Barbara Bush is the final exemplar of an age of gentility in American politics that will probably never be seen again.

R.I.P. nacy, you were a gracious women and first lady. Lord, 94, makes me tired just thinking about it. haha

I will add my respects. A devoted mother and wife and an exemplar First Lady. Rest in Peace.

I did not agree with a lot of her ideas but respected her devotion to her husband and in later years how she tried to shield him from view as he deteriorated and became so much less than he had been mentally.
Be at peace, lady.

I always saw her message “say no to drugs.” While skipping school to play Street Fighter 2 ; and I did.

Respectful? I’ll pass.

I didn’t agree with the Reagan politics, but Mrs. Reagan deserves a respectful farewell.

In the ‘80s, Nancy’s mother lived in the same condo as did I, only a few doors away. By then she was pretty much confined fulltime to her apartment and I don’t recall ever seeing her, but one afternoon—it was Mother’s Day—I came home from work to find the President visiting his mother-in-law, Edith Davis. I don’t believe Nancy was with him on that trip but after leaving Edith’s apartment, Reagan stuck around long enough to visit a few minutes with a few of us residents. Never having shaken hands with a “leader of the free world” before, I was a rather impressed young man.

In case there is any confusion as to why I posted this question in General and included the word “respectful” in the lead question, here is a copy of my post to another Reagan question here on Fluther:

He had written my mother once that he wanted her to be the first thing he saw every morning and the last thing he ever saw. And that’s how it turned out.”
Ron Reagan
Son of Ronald and Nancy Reagan and noted liberal talk show host and commentator.
Just so everyone who chooses to inflict additional pain on the Reagan family is clear who that is.

I appreciate your respectful posts, @Coloma , @Jaxk, @Jak & @Pachy.
I’m glad Mrs. Reagan made a difference in your life, @RedDeerGuy1.
And thanks, @filmfann, for your respectful dissent. It’s nice to know that The Westboro Church doesn’t stand a chance of a toehold on Fluther.
