Is human teleportation possible?

Asked by NerdyKeith (5489points) March 7th, 2016

I know there have been experiments done with non organic subjects. Also some smaller organic subjects such as plants and possibly rats.

But from what I understand teleportation has not been performed on a human being. Can it be done? And if so what are the ramifications of this? Will the human being survive? And if they do survive are they the same person or merely a replaced replica of that person?

Never been done except for some quantum experiments. Not really possible at the moment but loosely in theory it probably is.

I’ve just seen it done once and the guy got somehow mixed up with a fly. He definitely wasn’t quite the same afterwards.

Please point in direction of reports of teleportation of anything.

Yes, sorry, @NerdyKeith.
You’ll need to source successful teleportation experiments if you have them.

This is the most recent teleportation experiment to date

@NerdyKeith That’s what I was referring to. Not exactly teleportation of stuff but information. Opens some interesting doors though.

Can’t happen.

Even if it were possible, it would have consequences.

@dappled_leaves that has always freaked me out about the concept! …And whoa that ending!

I don’t see that quantum entanglement, or using it to send information faster than light, extrapolates to teleportation. Am I missing something?

There are other theories which suggest even more wild things are possible, but those are whole topics unto themselves.
