Should all borders be this friendly?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37734points) March 10th, 2016

The Haskell Free Library and Opera House sits astride the border between the US and Canada. The front entrance is in the US, but the books are across the border in Canada. The seats in the Opera House are in the US, and the stage is in Canada. It has a remarkable history.

Why can’t we all get along this well?

It reminds me of some pictures I have seen of the border between the Netherlands and Belgium.

That’d be nice, especially since it would tend to indicate a massive amount of peace, abundance, and good will between all nations…

What a coincidence, I just saw this collection of pictures of peaceful borders.

Did they have any favorite genres? Or as a library, were they varied?

Because there are places in the world that hate each other in ways we cannot imagine…to the point they will kill even lovers from both theirs and opposing countries who will give their lives to hold each other.

“Bosko Brkic and Admira Ismic, the two lovers who were killed by snipers while trying to cross a bridge in Sarajevo. She was a Bosnian Muslim and he was a Bosnian Serb

I didn’t know about this. Very interesting. I took a train in Alaska that goes through Canada small part of the trip, and then back into America. No one is allowed to get off the train while in Canada.

It would be great if all borders were friendly. I’m not sure about being able to build buildings on borders like that. All sorts of legal stuff to deal with.
