If you’re needing help in choosing, here is a lovely list.
http://users.tinyonline.co.uk/gswithenbank/phobias.htm
My personal favorites include:
Geniophobia – the fear of chins
Medectophobia – the fear of the contours of your penis being visible through your trousers (something I have a problem with ;) )..........(because I can’t afford looser trousers)
Vacansopapurosophobia – the fear of blank paper
and Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia – fear of extremely long words.
I think if your doctor told you were diagnosed with that, you’d shit yourself.

Phobias stopped being funny for me when I realized that it’s just to combine the latin word for something with -phobia. These aren’t real conditions, but if they were it would be hilarious. So ‘biblophobia’ is nothing funnier to me than ‘fear of books’.
Aibohphobia: fear of palindromes First one that sounded extremely ridiculous.
In one of the Far Side Galleries, Gary Larson has a joke about the phobia of being chased by wolves around a kitchen with a linolium floor while wearing socks. I’ll try to find the name.
Here are some I found online:
Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.
Pogonophobia- Fear of beards
Phobophobia- Fear of fear
Helmintophobia- Fear of being infested with worms
And from an earlier thread, cage, do you have this? LOL Chionophobia- Fear of snow
@tiny! That’s hilarious. They’d be scared of my name then! (Hannah)
Mine is “Japanophobia=fear of japanese people. I’m Japanese and I find it hilarious.
Here are the ones that amused me from that site:
Caligynephobia = Fear of beautiful women
Catoptrophobia = Fear of mirrors and seeing oneself reflected
Ephebiphobia = Fear of teenagers
Ithyphallophobia = Fear of the erect penis
Liticaphobia = Fear of lawsuits (don’t all doctors suffer from this one?)
@Foolaholic Was it Luposlipophobia?
Off the top of my head, my favorites are “triskaidekaphobia” (fear of the number thirteen) and “paraskavedekatriaphobia” (fear of Friday the thirteenth). Because I can spell them. My least favorites are entomophobia, coulrophobia, acrophobia and agoraphobia because I have them. Heh.
Flutheruptusphobia-The fear of not being able to Fluther.
Coulrophobia- Super Scary! (Fear of Clowns)
i’m with adina, coulrophobia.
I have a don’t-know-whatchamacallit phobia: fear of loss of gravity, like on roller coasters.
I’m not afraid of high places though.
Anyone know what it is called?
@mcbealer—“Barophobia,” according to this.
Fear of heights. I am terrified. But because of this, I seek it out when ever I can. I get the biggest rush just looking off a twenty story balcony. Makes my day :)
That’s why I started rock climbing. As a kid, I was fearless. As an adult, I found myself afraid of heights. So now I rock climb. My next step (when I can afford it) will be parachuting out of a plane.
yay! I now have a name for it :0)
thanks MacBean
Hasn’t anyone ever watched Maury Povich when he would have these people on that were afraid of the most ridiculous things like yarn and grapes? He would be interviewing the person with a huge TV behind them with close ups of what that person was afraid of. Then the bastard would have someone HOLDING what someone was afraid of and they would run off screaming while Maury would be like “It’s just a shoe lace, Maggie. Come out here and look at it.”
Best 30 minutes of my life.
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia – fear of extremely long words.
Well, clearly none of us are cyberphobes.
Tali I was going to say that damn.
That’s my favorite word :).
Paraskavedekatriaphobia.
my favorite, but I do not have it
