A fifth of salsa! Do you think Ludwig von Beethoven would approve (link in details)

Asked by Strauss (23829points) March 11th, 2016

I recently came across this Youtube video of a salsa arrangement of Beethoven’s Symphony #5 in C minor. Do you think if dear old Ludwig were around now that he would like this, or would he see it as almost sacrilegious?

Well, he was deaf, so he probably wouldn’t care. He might even be happy his music was still enjoyed.

Have you heard the Buena Vista Social Club’s version of Clocks?

Beethoven, being a musician, and being innovative and revolutionary in his own way, just might, if he were alive today, have created a Salsa Fifth all on his own!

@filmfann Thank you, putting that version in my music library!

I like it. I don’t think anything makes Ludi roll in his grave anymore, not after the disco version of the 5th back in the 70’s. A passionate musician sees something to dig in all genres. He’d dig this.

Man, can this site get any more jammed up?

I would buy salsa by the fifth.

If it was good enough.
