How do you do a search for your own Flickr albums?

Asked by Kardamom (33494points) April 2nd, 2016

Forgive me if I asked this question before, I don’t think I did, but who knows?

Anyway, I’ve had a Flickr account for about 6 months now. I got it to upload my pictures that I take with my iphone, and I finally finished uploading nearly 16,000 photos from my computer. I am very organized and made lots of different albums to which the pictures belong.

I can look at the albums, visually, by scrolling through the long list of them (probably 200 or more albums) but I am unable to figure out how to simply type in the name of the album to find my stuff.

There is a search box, but that simply brings up random pictures by everyone on Flickr who happens to have something that pertains to any of the “similar names” of my albums. I would like to know if there is any type of search that I can do, to quickly find my specific album(s) that I want to look at. All of my stuff is set to private if that makes a difference.

I am not a techie type of person, so walk me through it as if I’m a 3 year old please. Lol : )

I’ve never used Flickr, so take this with a grain of salt. Try surrounding your album name with quotes like “AlbumTitle” when you search. You can also try putting your user name AND the name of the album in the search box. I’d also try to search for it on google, but since the albums are private, that might not work at all.

I think the private setting does make a difference. How about temporarily taking them off privacy in order to find what youre looking for with search. Once youre done just restore them all back to private. This is assuming that whatever you need to do once found with search is of short duration.
