What is the actual difference between a flat white and a café latte?
Is it simply that a flat white is a smaller quantity to a café latte (while using the same amount of espresso)?

A latte has foamed milk on top; a flat white has plain milk, hence the “flat.”
One adds milk to the espresso; the other adds espresso to the milk.
I think a flat white is closer to a café au lait. @longgone‘s poster seems to be in agreement.
I agree with the ‘less frothy’ camp. Bloody Australians confusing things. So typical. Got to do things their own way.
