I attend a current events club every week and it’s interesting to see what topics they choose. Every week a different person gets to lead the discussion.

Well, I loved the story that in Sweden you can hire someone to babysit your sourdough starter while you’re taking your 5-week vacation. And that in South Korea you can rent people to attend your wedding so your guest list looks impressively long. These might not be hot news, but they’re interesting.
Also Sweden has set up a hotline where people around the world can phone and chat with a random Swede.
And Cape Breton Island, off the coast of Nova Scotia, has set up a website to encourage the immigration of Americans who want to flee to Canada if Trump wins.

The New Yorker recently published a Gay Talese story about a motel owner who built an attic catwalk and special vents to watch his guests have sex for decades. He kept a detailed journal of every episode. His first wife participated and after she died he found ANOTHER woman who would marry him and watch the show. WHAT FREAKS!

The Keystone pipeline has sprung a leak. Day four of Democracy Spring, hundreds of arrests, almost zreo media coverage.
All environmental issues, particularly the species threatened with extinction, wildlife habitats being eradicated, forest destruction, ocean pollution, temperature change and acidification, climate change in general, the Tar Sands and Keystone pipeline, GMO labeling, water privatization, fracking.
@ibstubro, that’s an interest that I share. I follow the news stories, read books, and see documentaries about NK. And every one of them adds something new, while overall they corroborate one another.
