Why do film companies sometimes, and apparently pointlessly, rename movies for different markets?

For example, the movie “Zootopia” was renamed “Zootropolis” in the UK, and “Zoomania” in Deutschland.

Possibly they do focus groups or have an advisor who suggest changes in title for marketing purposes. Different countries, even if they are also English speaking (assuming the original movie was English speaking) may perceive or define a word differently. Just think about the meaning of politically liberal in Europe vs US, or to table a topic. My examples aren’t likely titles of a movie, but I hope it conveys what I’m getting at.
