It’s not a dagger. A dagger is a short narrow bladed knife.
One might call it a combat knife , and could find it at hunting stores.
But don’t expect to go cutting large tree branches as easily as Katniss did.
That’s not the type of knife used in the film.
I saw the illustration and that’s not the same knife.
@luigirovatti Finding the exact knife used in the movie might take you months to locate on line. I gave you an example of what type of knife it is.
I told you the model type, You are on your own for finding the same knife.
Mind you, I’m not sure it’s the same model.
@zenvelo has given you the best response you are likely to get, and he is perfectly correct as far as showing the knife as a sheathed, fixed-blade, double-edged (one edge serrated) clip-point combat-type knife. (And there are the words that you can use to describe it to others, if you’re going to search more thoroughly.)
If you want to get the exact knife that the movie’s Props Director specified and used, you might have to talk to that individual. It’s doubtful whether Jennifer Lawrence herself – even with her Kentucky upbringing – would know the exact brand and model.
You might look at the credits in the movie, figure out who’s in charge of props and try to contact that person and ask them, @luigirovatti.
Some one might be selling a replica or something, though the accuracy of such products varies.
Let’s see… Google: Katniss Knife… yup. Though some of those are not like the knife you want, at all. Here’s a good still photo: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/thehungergames/images/5/5d/Katniss_knife.jpg
Here are the stunt props. http://www.ronmendell.com/RonMendell/Images/Hunger_Games/Stunt_props.jpg I get the feeling these may have been custom made for the film.
Here is someone asking your question on a knife cough maniac cough enthusiast forum: http://knifeforums.com/forums/showtopic.php?tid/921529/
They confirm it is a prop fantasy knife. They say it doesn’t have a real edge and has a piece of chrome tape on the side to make it look like it does.
However, there are plenty of knives out there to look at. Googling “combat knife saw” brings up some related designs. The term “knife/saw combo” applies. Note that the saw may look cool, but doesn’t improve the design for combat purposes unless you happen to need a saw, like to cut the branch on a bees nest that happens to be right over a sleeping target’s head…
