Did anyone else have a parent that genuinely hated them?
I know it’s rare, but it does happen. And when it does, it really sucks

I was an only child so never experienced any sibling favoritism and no, my parents did not hate me. haha
I can say though that I have known several people that have played favorites amongst their multiple kids and while I don;t think anyone hated anyone, it was all too apparent who the golden boys & girls were, and I always thought it quite sad and inappropriate. Infact, one of these women I dumped as a friend about 5 years ago, for unrelated reasons.
My mother was a piece of work, but she didn’t hate me at all.
No. My parents were rather wonderful and very funny. It’s too bad because I think it would be immensely satisfying to be able to fault at least one of them for my plethora of defects.
Both of parents have always loved me.
I don’t think they hated me. Not my parents. I was the last of nine kids. I think the hate came from the siblings. The nest was already over crowded. Resentment was served for breakfast. I grew up tasting it.
My parents were nuts – especially my mother – but they did love me.
I wasn’t my step-mother’s favourite by a long stretch and she was very difficult to live with, but I don’t feel she hated me. She didn’t always like me, but hate would be too strong a word. Her dislike was balanced by my father’s love. I always felt very loved by him.
^^^ I’m so sorry to hear that. Your posts suggest that you’re young, possibly still in high school. Adolescence is difficult enough without being disliked by one’s own mother or father.
