Save the best for last, or seize the day, and go from best to last like there might not be another day?

When all the laundry is done, do you wear your favorite outfit the next day, or do you save it for another time?
When you open a box of candy, do you eat the most luscious one first, or enjoy the anticipation of savoring it later?

Oh I seize the day mostly. haha
Studies have shown that anticipation brings more pleasure than the actual event. One study in particular used people playing slot machines. They won 33% of the time and reported more pleasure in anticipating than winning. When the machines were subsequently set to win only 25% of the time, the pleasure of anticipation actually increased.
That being said, I never buy boxed candy becauses I don’t like most of the fillings. I’m about 50/50 to answer your question, as it depends on many variables.
This is tough. If the chocolates then I go for my favorite. On the clothes, I wear whatever is in front. Beer, toss up, sometimes the favorite sometimes save it ‘till third or fourth.
Seize the day and go for the best first! One never knows when they might die the next moment.
I wonder how much the answer to this question depends on the size of the family of the person responding?
After all, if you came from a family large enough to consume a box of candy in one sitting, it would only make sense to eat the ones you like best, first.
I was the youngest of 3 kids, and I just learned early on to like the stuff that was left, for the most part. I loved chocolate covered jellies, so I could sample around the other selections and eat the jellies when I wanted. lol
I almost never take the seize-the-day approach. More often I save the best for last, but sometimes I just savor the anticipation for a while, then dive in.
GQ. I hadn’t thought about this in this way. I try to teach my kids delayed gratification and coping strategies for temptation but thinking about this question, I have realised that I am really rubbish at delayed gratification myself. I know that it’s better for your happiness but seizing the day is just so…tempting
Must try harder
Well sometimes we can just seize the day, while practicing restraint the rest of the time.
A good example is eating buffet.
I don’t eat buffet often, but, when I do, I start right in with the most sumptuous looking dish. Why not? Your stomach is limited, the buffet is not. Why waste the room sampling?
But now a dessert plate, I might take a bit of each and save the best looking for last. I might take a 2nd helping of something, and I want that to be the one.
