Why do people like flowers?
I don’t know. I’m not into smells or looks. I like the smell of oxygen and sterile clean. Unless their are beef smelling flowers?

The whole and entire purpose of flowers is firstly attraction.
Not for humans, but for pollinating birds and insects.
The beauty as observed by humans is a pleasant and unintended dividend.
They’re beautiful. Visual appearances of anything play a big part with us humans. And often they smell nice too, so many people like them based on their smells. Like Jasmine for example. Simple to look at, though smells wonderful. Of course there are people who don’t find them particularly special or appealing, everybody’s different.
Pretty flowers makes me happy.
They’re pretty. They smell nice. They signify life. For some people, flowers are a special treat to buy for oneself or to be given. Not something I have too often in my house, so when I do, it’s an exception.
I like flowers, but I don’t understand why people give it to them in bouquets.
A dead flower doesn’t sound appealing to me.
I would rather plant a flower for them! Make a new life!
In the past week or so, magnolias and lilacs started blooming here. I walk a lot and get hit with it. “Whoa. That’s so beautiful!” Of course it happens every year, but the smell is still a surprise.
As far as the visual beauty, I can’t say why.
Looking at flowers is like looking at mountains or fire or waves breaking on rocks. Maybe it’s the complexity and not-random but still unique details that we enjoy.

Fresh flowers are alive and can live for days or weeks in a vase.
Most people like flowers because they cheer you up. Their softness as well as the bright sparks of color lightens up the atmosphere.
There is also an immediacy to cut flowers. They’re not something you can get a month in advance (order yes, put hands on, no) and forget.
Personally, I think that places like FTD have taken a lot of the joy out of giving flowers. You pay a stranger to deliver an arrangement that mimics artificial for a few days, and then leaves a complicated, often guilt-inspiring mess.
I enjoy occasionally giving flowers that I pick up spontaneously from a display, or order from a local florist.
I see no reason to waste money calling (or texting, or…) and ordering Arrangement Number 32a with the red vase to be delivered Thursday at 3.
A Candy bar from Walmart, hand delivered, is more personal. Wrap is in a couple $20s.
Flowers are beautiful manifestations of the diversity of life forms. To really be present with the looks and scent of a flower is to take in the very essence of life.
Flowers are absolutely gorgeous and beautiful….. They smell beautiful…. They ARE beautiful…. I’ve never met or known anyone who said they did not like flowers…. How strange…
