CNN saying that Ted Cruz is considering going back into race. Should Trump still be campaigning?

Asked by RedDeerGuy1 (24945points) May 10th, 2016

Is it a trick to have Trump lose the last few states primaries and cause a contested convention?

Probably. And it’s not a terrible idea, as such things go.

I know if I were in that race they’d have to throw me out kicking and screaming.

I hope he goes back into the campaigning. Is this a nightmare or what? Does a person have to start out by killing 6 million people?
Trump wants freedom to be dictator not for people to oppose him:
“It’s incredible. He wiped out the uncle, he wiped out this one, that one. This guy doesn’t play games.”* http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/donald-trump/12092353/Donald-Trump-praises-Kim-Jong-un-for-his-firm-hand-with-executed-uncle.html

I believe Ted Cruz wants to run as an independent.

There was a debate where all the R candidates except Trump pledged not to run independent if they don’t get the nomination. Not that it’d be all that surprising if Cruz went back on his word.

Pardon the French, but Ted Cruz should just shut the fuck up and head back to Texas. He ran against the least popular candidate in [modern] history and couldn’t stay in the race.

I mean, how sad is it when you can’t rally the “I don’t hate you!” vote?

The trick is on you….the media is having a field day with peddling this nonsense and stop feeding into it unless you enjoy being had.

If he wants to run as an independent let him. To me those pledges should not exist.

@Cruiser Correct. Being okay, even somewhat okay_ with Trump is saying yes to one’s own enemy.

@Mariah There was a debate where all the R candidates except Trump pledged not to run independent if they don’t get the nomination.

The four of them (Trump, Cruz, Rubio and Kasich) did make that pledge, as reported here (and other sources) on March 30, 2016.

Then, by the end of March, Trump, Cruz and Kasich had rescinded their pledge, according to this report.

So, it would not surprise me too much if Cruz did try either an end run around the primaries (via a contested convention) or an independent run for President.
