What do you know about "drop foot"?

Asked by Cruiser (40454points) May 11th, 2016

10 days ago I was in the ICU with my mom. When she had her tumor excised, she developed drop foot on her right side. When she walked he gait was like a marionette puppet with her foot dragging.

Fast forward to 10 days ago when she wound up in ICU because of how beat up she was from the chemo and radiation. The nurses suggested we work her limbs if we were bored to help keep musle tone up. So I stood at the side of her bed, put her foot in my chest and had her do leg presses. I did this for 2 days and on the second day….I was sitting in the lounge and when I stood up my right leg was numb and I had her exact drop foot on the same side. Now I was walking like her. I was surprised and confused.

After a couple days it seemed to get a little better. Last night I went for a walk with the dog and I again could hear the plop…plop of my right foot. This am I felt a little numbness in my right cheek.

I got worried and called my Dr. and do have an appointment to see him tomorrow.

My vital statistics is I am STRESSED about lots of things in my life the number one right now is my mom dying on Mon. I had to cancel my flight to got to her funeral because of these symptoms cropping up today and a few other things I could do without. Blood pressure is up no surprise there.

My brother and sisters are screaming at me to go to the ER now…my doc says an office visit tomorrow is in order.

Anyone ever deal with anything like this before? Again don’t yell at me to go to the ER….had that enough times today.
