Was re-making Stephen King’s novel "The Shining" as an opera the only sure fire way to make the story even more horrifying?

Yes, “The Shining” is now an opera.
Not a rock opera, like, say, “Evita”, but a full bore, opera.
The original Kubrick movie is one of my favorites, but I must say that the operatic version horrifies me even more.

All work and no play makes jack a dull boy. I was bored out of my mind watching that movie. In a way an opera Is 3 hours of horror . because I can’t leave and am trapped in the theater.
“Here’s Pavarotti”
Only he’s dead & his massive head would have struggled to fit in the gap
I think more so, it’s a sure-fire attempt to make more money on the title.
I heard parts of The Shining the opera and it certainly horrified me.
I don’t know why you would take a great story out of it’s medium and subject it to the caterwauling of a modern opera.
I’d go see it. It could not possibly be as long and boring as a Stephen King novel. And I like opera.
Stephen King is one of the most inconsistent authors I’ve ever read, @Seek. I think he’s had some great books, but he’s put out a hell of a lot of trash, too.
Kubrick’s The Shining happens to be one of my favorite movies.
I detest traditional opera.
The pay would have to be substantial if I were to sit through it.
In my opinion, his best work was when he was pretending to not be Stephen King. The Bachman books are the best.
Some of his collaborations are good.
I really enjoyed The Talisman that he wrote with Peter Straub.
