House rules are that you can’t name MP’s in parliament. Also all communications are thru the Speaker.
@flo Then I don’t know? Maybe he will have to apologize about his apology?
Okay, how about why he didn’t apologize to all Canadians instead of just the Speaker etc.?
Why apologize to all Canadians? He didn’t do anything to the country!
He apologized to the Speaker as a way of apologizing for breaking the rules of decorum of the House. Parliament has a long tradition of proper ways to address people and who to address.
The article says that he apologized 16 times in the space of an hour so I think it’s blatantly obvious he recognized his inappropriate actions.
He didn’t manhandle the people of Canada, just govt officials and he apologized directly to them, so I’m a little baffled at your question.
He was impetuous. He acknowledged his error multiple times. I don’t see the problem.
@RDG
Isn’t he fairly new to the job? When was the election?
@zenvelo and @Buttonstc
^^ It would have been quite improper to apologize to all Canadians Very wrong in fact. Who does he think he is someone who represents all Canadians as a PM? Sheesh. That would have sent a bad example. Did he have to apologize (16 times?) Why that many times? He did it right the first time with ”If I ....”
…Actually it was very correct for him to get out of his seat and do what he did so I don’t know why he needed to apologize at all!
What is the world coming to when we can’t even rely on the Canadians to apologise in the proper way?? ~~
In your question you say; ”... and not to all the people of Canada?” And then further down you say; “It would have been quite improper to apologize to all Canadians Very (sic) wrong in fact. Who does he think he is… as a PM?”’
I don’t understand your question and contradiction.
@Jak
You’re not the only one :)
I don’t get it either.
I’ve never heard of the term “sarcasm”.
Um… I wasn;t beiong sarcastic if you’re directing your comment towards me. I genuinely want to know which statement you mean. Should he have apologized to all the people of Canada or would it have been presumptuous of him? You pretty much say both, and since I’m not familiar with enough of the particuloars, I have only your comments, which I find confusing and contradictory.
I also don’t believe @Buttonstc was being sarcastic, just confused like me.
Terrible, horrible when teachers say “Children, use your *words”” They should encourage them to get physical. Trudeau should be given a nobel prize.
…And of course he’s not elected by Canadians, he was elected only by the ones he mentioned in his apology, so of course he would be presumtuous to apologize to all Canadians.
What? I have never heard of the term sarcasm.
