Bang&Olufsen audio: Typical B&O Beomaster 7000 (reciever/amplifier) issues?

Asked by SecondHandStoke (9522points) June 2nd, 2016

I’m about to be given a Bang&Olufsen Beosystem 7000. Includes Beocord (audio cassette deck), Beogram CD (compact disc deck), Beolab Penta III speakers and Master Control Panel 5500 (tabletop remote).

Everything works great except the Beomaster will not start, no click. No standby light I think.

Is there a common problem I can figure as the most likely issue?

Repair or replace?

I’m aware this is a long shot here, but why not?

Thanks in advance.

I would Check the fuse A system like that would be worth repairing if the fuse is not the problem.

WHY didn’t this occur to me?

Yes, there is a main fuse.

I checked the usual forums and your link. Hopefully the issue is the fuse. I also now know what to check should the fuse blow again.

Worth repairing? Yes indeed. Still ahead of it’s time stuff, and such aesthetically responsible design too. I helped my dad pick out the system in ‘93. He’s glad to know it’s going to someone that will appreciate it.

GQ and thank you so much!
