What are some issues/things you want our next President to do/fix?

Asked by Cruiser (40454points) June 2nd, 2016

What about our country and it’s current state of affairs are some things you want our next President to address, change, fix, undo etc? Please be specific.

If it’s National Security what part of our National Security needs change or fixing?

If it Immigration, what would like to see done about Immigration as it is today?

If it’s Congress, the Senate or the House….what needs fixing there?

If it’s the State Department…what do you want done there?

Other areas are the Military, Trade, Campaign reform, Tax Reform, Health Care, Social Security, Welfare, and many other areas that you here the current candidates talk about.

I would like to keep this question focused on the next Presidents tasks at hand and not bring the current candidates into this discussion. My personal opinion is that whoever is elected will face these same issues and have the same responsibility to address these issues. My reason for asking this question is to see what issues are most important to my fellow Jellies. Thanks in advance.

As a citizen of an Allied country, I hope your next president:

- Scuttles the TTP and TTIP
– Prevents tax evasion from large corporations
– Encourages growth of small businesses
– Halts illegal immigration, without penalising those who have been living there for a long time
– Revitalises the US’s manufacturing sector
– Reaffirms the importance of freedom of speech, in the face of the politically correct onslaught

My country’s election is much closer than yours, and I would want the same thing from our next government. Western countries as a general rule need to start looking after their citizens more, rather than special interest groups.

@FireMadeFlesh You concerns echo my own. In no particular order…

Tax Reform, Trade Reform, Regulatory Reform, Health Care Reform are at the tops of my list because they all 4 directly impact my small manufacturing business.

Campaign Reform and Torte Reform are also tops on my list because they are the scourge of our current government.

Education, military, immigration, welfare, budget, deficit all need serious tweaking to get our ship sailing smoothly.

If Trump wins, I just hope he won’t do anything he said he will right now.

@Cruiser I hope you get at least some of those things. I would be astounded if whoever is elected truly acts in the interests of the electorate.

I should also add that I hope your next president saves the A10 Warthog from retirement. It is a brilliant platform, and it makes no sense at all to send a fighter as advanced as the F35 to do what an A10 can do better.

@FireMadeFlesh Then I would say save a card or two to play on the Trump blind as he is the only candidate to consistently support the military…the Navy is a train wreck and needs a serious intervention and I have not heard one word from the Dems that would lead me to believe they have a vested interest in our military.

I would appreciate the incoming President to do everything in his (or her) power to curtail legislation than restricts support for smoking alternatives, specifically electronic cigarettes.

Pending restrictions imposed by the FDA threatens to destroy small businesses and force people who’ve switched to (what we believe to be) the safer alternative of vaping back to smoking tobacco products.

As a smoker, @SABOTEUR, I hope that in the next generation or two, smoking and nicotine addiction will be a distant, nasty memory.

@Dutchess_III As a former smoker, I’m thankful that electronic cigarettes have enabled me to avoid smoking for 7 years. I’m enjoying the (unexpected) health benefits of not inhaling burning tobacco and 10,000 chemical additives. I’ve also drastically reduced the consumption of nicotine from what I formerly consumed as a smoker.

I would hope that this generation of consenting adults be allowed the privilege of choosing a healthier alternative to smoking, but our government seems to regard protecting tobacco companies and pharmaceuticals a higher priority than human lives.

My apologies for harping on this subject, but the attack on vapers by the federal government really needs to stop. Everyone who has lost someone to smoking related illness should be concerned, however there’s so much misinformation about electronic cigarettes around that it’s hard to understand just how serious this situation is.
