There is an elderly (80’s) man on youtube who said he was in the hospital to have his blood cleansed and he hoped it would make his organs function again. Have you heard of this procedure?

Sounds like he was describing dialysis.
Was his name Keith Richards?
@canidmajor I thought the same thing. We’ll never know for sure.
It’s not an operation per se, but there is a procedure called hemodialysis which differs from regular dialysis and that might be what he was referencing.
My friend does hemodialysis for his end-stage renal failure. (He had been doing home dialysis, but was having lots of trouble. He is on schedule for a live-donor transplant and we’re hoping it happens soon. The donor needs to lose a bit of weight.)
He could also be describing plasmapheresis. It’s similar to the procedure used during blood donation – the blood is removed, the cells are centrifuged out and the plasma is either filtered or replaced entirely. Cells and new plasma are then returned to the patient. It’s used to treat a number of conditions.
Might he also be talking about chelation?
