Don’t worry. The website is safe. It is basically a news reader/aggregator/summarizer. I’ve been using it for years.
The website is www.flipboard.com. On a Windows 7 PC and Internet Explorer 11, the page comes up completely blank for me. No errors or error messages of any kind. I’ve reported the problem to them, but somehow they don’t believe me.
To make sure it wasn’t just my computer, I tried this on a different PC (also running Win 7 and IE 11), and I got a blank page there, too. Interestingly, though, on both computers the webpage is fine using Chrome.
So, if you have Win 7 and IE 11, can you see if you can access the site? What do you think is going on?

The log in screen shows up in Safari on my iMac.
Isn’t Windows 7 unsupported?
@2davidc8 The website comes up immediately on Firefox on my iMac.
@2davidc8 The website comes up immediately on Firefox on my Win7 desktop.
Got it on my old Windows Vista laptop with Firefox
Log-in page comes up on my PC with Widnows 7 in Chrome.
The problem seems to be limited to Windows7 PCs and Internet Explorer 11. Is there anyone using this combination?
If this question was in Social, I’d be tempted to ask you if this is an enforcement of Flipboard, @2davidc8.
I’m intrigued. Can you block the tabloid news sources?
No, this is not an endorsement of Flipboard. There are plenty of other apps/news aggregators out there.
Apple, Google, Headlines, and Netvibes are other excellent news readers out there. I think that the general category of these apps/websites is “Dashboard” applications.
I’m just intrigued and want to get to the bottom of this problem which seems to affect only Win 7/IE 11. As you can see from the responses above, all other browsers and OS’s seem to get to the website just fine. Any clue where to look? Flipboard tech support is not helping. They probably think the problem is on my side, but I think that their programmers have not accounted for some specific item in IE.
PM me if you want to know more about Flipboard.
@2davidc8 At the library, we frequently come across programs or sites that don’t open correctly in one browser or another. The answer is usually just try another browser and see if it works there. Just quirkiness.
It actually comes up blank for me too on my Mac using Firefox but I have a lot Firefox security and blocking add-ons. I haven’t used Explorer in a long time. Did you recently add and blocking or security apps to Explorer? I don’t know what add-ons available for Explorer, but I was about to send off an email to a site about problems I had accessing it until I decided to check and see if one of my add-ons was blocking it and that turned out to be the problem. Not sure if it’s your problem but maybe. I always forget that I have all this crap added on to Firefox.
Hi janbb! Just putting in my 2 cents worth
@lillycoyote I think you could be onto something. Thanks for the suggestion. Come to think of it, since it comes up fine under Chrome, I could have set different levels of security in IE vs. Chrome. Will check into it!
