White, or brown?

Asked by MrGrimm888 (19541points) July 5th, 2016

Haha. NOT a race question…
I’m talking liquor. Rum and vodka are obviously white. Whiskey brown….
There is a profound difference between the two. Where I live we have tropical summers, and very light winters. Some people in my region prefer white liquor this time of year. They say it doesn’t make you feel as warm as dark liquor does…
I usually ask more polarizing questions, but I was curious. What type of liquor do my fellow flutherites prefer?
I usually drink Evan William’s white label. Straight. And I chase it with beer usually. (Don’t judge; ) But sometimes in the summer, when I’m out in my canoe, I drink rum and Gatorade.

Yes. What ever you pouring. No difference to me.

I like brown rum, but whiskey is a bit sweet for me. Tequila is marvelous too

White rum is rum lite. Real rum is dark and strong.

Interesting. I’ve never thought of rum as white. Maybe it’s the variety people usually offer?

As I look around, I realize that what I’ve got is mostly white – vodka/gin/tequila, with some brandies in the kitchen for baking and/or adding to chai. I also like weiss beers quite a bit.

Gin & tonic, year round. Why mess with success?

Went to a brunch last week – White Vermouth and tonic was the drink of choice. I found it very refreshing.

I’ll take brown-ish. Ginger ale, that is.

You never see white dog shite anymore, only brown…drink that in for a moment

Liquor is expensive. That is why I prefer free or O P alcohol.

Vodka and tonic is my poison since I had to give up gin.

Hard liquor is hard for me to get down in this tropical heat. One ounce of it and my shirt immediately becomes soaked in sweat and my heart rate and BP shoot sky high, followed quickly by a major headache. No buzz. I just go straight to hangover. Not a good feeling at all. But as things cool off in the late afternoon, I’ll take a rare vodka tonic in a Collins glass with lime and lots of ice, or an ice-cold, dry vodka Gibson straight up before dinner. Only whites in this heat. In cold weather, which is non-existent here, I like a good cognac by the fire, or a rich, dark añejo rum.

I prefer liquor to have as little taste as possible, so white.

This time of year, I love a gin and tonic or a seabreeze.

I bought the grandsons a shaved ice machine and one for us, and the wife and I are having a wonderful tequila/vodka/bourbon snokone Summer. Sometimes life can be literally sweet.

@MrGrimm888 When I read your question, I didn’t think of people’s complexions. I guessed that you were asking about flour and rice! I expected a discussions about the virtues of whole v. refined food products.

I like golden beer, reddish wines, orangish peach margaritas, and pinkish strawberry daiquiris.

Love my doggie, that’s probably because you’re a good person…

I like gin, whiskey, dark top-fermented beers, and dry wine. The occasional tequila is OK, too.

I’m a beer drinking guy, but that doesn’t mean I won’t enjoy an occasional nip.

One taste I’ve acquired recently (thanks to my best friend, who’s Brazilian) is Cachaça. It’s like rum, in that it comes from sugar cane, but somehow the comparison ends there.

I very rarely drink booze, but I use vodka to make ice cream and rum to make banana bread for Thanksgiving dinner. I have a hard time finding a dark rum with enough flavor to stand up to the bread. Rum might be clear, light brown, dark brown, or blue like this
