Sipping my coffee here on a lovely, breezy ,morning before launching into some activities. Who’s hanging around Fluther Town this morning?
I’m sort of here. Making chicken balti from scratch, and Fluthering in the gaps. It’s nearly ready now so be quiet. If we have no film to watch afterwards, then I shall return.
In and out between sketching, reading, pruning the plants.
In and out around and about!
My liver hasn’t given up yet!!
Not here. Walking round Epcot world showcase. Drinking too much beer.
Still here. Eating cold watermelon and avoiding daylight.
“Yoo-Hoo, hiya, way to go, woot!” <stares at nothing>
Been here for 9 years.
Tonight, finishing the OJ ESPN documentary (part 5 of 5) and then watching the “Concussion ” documentary.
Present. Less active than before my two-year hiatus, but here nonetheless.
Hi I’m here. Just started my new job last Wednesday so my Fluthering has definitely died down, but I’m here.
I’m here, too. Where else?
I’m back. haha
Took my little yr. old friend to see the new “Secret Life Of pets.” It was hilarious!
9 year old friend. Not year old.
I was here. Then I went and drifted around in the community pool for a few hours. Took the dog for a walk afterward. Came back to a locked house. Was making plans to sleep on the porch. Then Setanta returned. He’d been visiting some of the neighbourhood old boys for a chat.
I have returned safely, even though camping on the porch might have been fun for one night.
I’ve been here for 5 years now. Don’t think I’m going anywhere else apart from the odd peek at Facebook.
Pachy(derm) is still lumbering about.
Present this morning, for a bit longer. I actually slept in until 9, shocking! So still having coffee at almost 11 a.m. haha
Lately I’m not very present—mind keeps escaping to one mental fiction or another… The time I spend grounded is split between the different things in my life, Fluther being one of them.
PS hi you lovely jellies!
I’m long dead, and still haunting Fluther ~
Here and there! I’m happy to report I have a busy life now but do still enjoy fluthering on occasion.
In and out. Don’t work today, so I’ll probably check in every now and again. Been outside in the crazy heat. When I come in to cool off I’ve been checking in.
If any of you are in a cold place, I envy you.
I won’t go away. I check in often to follow some posts, but I contribute less and less to the dialog.
I’m here for a bit before going out to pick up my little 9 yr. old friend at her day camp and bring her back here to hang out for a couple hours. We will go visit the new horse here “Profe” and take him an apple and then take a walk down to the pond to see if we can spot the new Koi fish and sit under the big Weeping Willow.
You won’t get rid of me until you post my memorial!
@Yetanotheruser haha, me too. I told my daughter if I drop dead to let everyone here know. lol
That is unless I am stricken with something like Alzheimers Old-timers!
It’s an interesting conjecture. How long do you suppose you would have to be absent before it might be noticed?
I notice when regulars go missing for more than a few weeks.
Occasional lapses happen to everyone, but weeks and months become suspect.
Considering there are quite a few of us in our later 50’s-to 60 something, well..anything could happen. Sudden heart attack while Fluthering, slumped over in the social section, never to lift a finger towards a keystroke again. lol
Now there’s a happy thought!
@stanleybmanly Fear not Stan, you walk a lot, and with a spring in your step too. lol
Well the avatar at least steps along. Think I’ll grab a cigar and emulate him.
You’ll also need a brown jacket with coat tails stanleybmanly…
As well as staff to abuse and publicly berate like ucme. Wait a minute. Are you telling me that my avatar is sporting a brown coat with tails on your screen? I can’t imagine anything so scandalous!
Still alive over this way.
Right now I am cleaning up the carnage of the marauding hens that discovered what great fun it would be to jump into my big flower pots and scratch up all of my plants and fling dirt everywhere. haha
Jerks!
Yep, the old biddies! haha
They have 10 acres of lawns and weeds and property and, of course, they always cross the road to get to the other side where there is about 100 acres of raw land, but noooo, that’s not enough, they have to pilfer my little garden zone. lol
Threads like this make me think of all the Jellies that have come and gone. If I look at old threads, I think the same thoughts. Ditto when I look at my profile page and see Jellies I’ve followed and who were following me. I can only hope that the ones that are no longer here are all doing ok (except of course for those I know have passed on).
@jca I came across a post from Bookish1 last night. I really enjoyed them. Yep, a lot of good peeps gone forever, but hey, there’s still a bunch of us good eggs left too!
I loved him, immensely. last I heard from him he was moving to France. I hope he found love and happiness.
@Seek Me too, and I hope he wasn’t in Nice today. Man..time to kick some Isis ass methinks.
We need more threads like that. Maybe we can roll call every month or two.
I am finally here. 10 days late. My best friend was in the intensive care unit in the hospital in another city. I’ve been there with her. I’m back now.
@Kardamom Oh, bummer! Hope all’s better now., Welcome back friend!
Still here though I seem to have less time since I retired.
@flutherother Well your color is still good for an old fish. lol
11:48 a.m. in sunny CA. just about to have a bite to eat and then plot the rest of my afternoon.
Sitting here with a delicious breeze caressing me and relishing the cooler weather, for the moment anyway. haha
I’m here-ish, just been busy a lot lately!
@flutherother _ I seem to have less time since I retired_
That is the case with me as well!
I’m trying to be more active. But I’ve been very busy of late.
Here, hotter than hell…I’m melting, melting, melt…
Fluther is the center of my life… I’m always here. every 15 minutes . except after 11pm.

7:22 am on the west coast, having coffee and soaking my foot after stepping on a sharp stick and puncturing my heel yesterday. Ow! Just had a Tetanus booster a few months ago so, I may be lame but I won’t die. haha
10:45 on the east coast having coffee. Later on, going to Costco to get 4 new tires which will probably mean a few hours of waiting. Not exciting but a necessary way to spend a Saturday.
11:10 a.m. north of Lake Ontario. Considering a light breakfast before I go to the community pool. Took my antihistamine as it’s super-allergy season for me right now.
9:29 am now, a zippy morning so far, house sitting across the way and back and forth tending the dogs and blowing the leaves off the patio, it may be only August but leaves are falling from the Oaks like crazy. Right now I am watching one of kids, a 10 year old boy, who is getting riding lessons here, meticulously grooming his mount and moaning, groaning and huffing trying to hoist up the saddle onto her back. Hey, if ya wanna ride you gotta be able to saddle your own horse.
Tall horse, short boy and a 40 lb. saddle but he has emerged victorious. lol
Time check? Ok, it’s 12:29 pm now, same time zone as Coloma’s, and I’m having my second cup of coffee. Trying to work up the ambition to take everything out of my bureau (or at least get started with one drawer) and put back only what I mean to keep.
I’ve lost a lot of weight in the past few years and have been packing up and donating items that are no longer my size. Some of them are like new, and some still have the tags on them. A friend works with disabled clients and gives my donations to them directly instead of going through the long chain of handling to the storefront thrift shop. It’s great to hear of someone who’s as thrilled to have a new jacket and jeans as I am to let them go.
So—I have good motivation, but I still have to push myself to get going.
@Jeruba 12:47 here now.
You need a reward system, once you clean out your bureau treat yourself to dinner out or a movie or something fun. I am doing the same thing today, have to go out and run a couple errands I don’t fell like doing but..I am bringing home takeout of some sort for dinner. Maybe Strings pasta. :-)
I didn’t even get on the computer until 3 in the afternoon. My husband was trying to restore Chrome for me. It quit working a couple of weeks ago and I have had to rely on Firefox and my memory to access a few sites. Chrome remembered all my passwords for me, and now I can only access a the ones I remember for myself, which is only four so far.
8:54 a.m. Enjoying the last day of my summer holiday before going back to school tomorrow. No more free time :(
18.30. Just arrived back in UK after my holiday
1:32 p.m.
since it’s still under 30 C, I’m going to go crazy and have a cup of hot tea
11:02 a.m. on the west coast. I have been in turbo mode since 7:15. Fed and grained all 6 horses, loaded hay wagons with enough hay to last in the breezeway of the paddock rows through tomorrow night. 16 flakes per wagon, per day, mixed the next 2 feedings of grain and supplements, done laundry, clipped the cats claws, vacuumed my little abode, mopped, etc. I am now starving and thinking of going and getting a big, take out, ranch hands breakfast. lol
8pm, Atlantic time. I just spent a few days completely revamping my communications systems and was off line most of the time. I can now wifi whatever is on my laptops to a 52” flatscreen with what is called a ROKU box. I have no idea how this thing works, but I am now able to surf the net and get about a thousand TV channels from all over the world without cable, split the screen six ways and export other channels simultaneously to two other 36” screens. Weird and wonderful. Still here on St. Lucia.
@Espiritus_Corvus Wow, I am trying to envision what you describe, splitting your screen into 6 parts and the other multiple screens, super!
The Roku is phenomenal, and if you’re being held hostage by a cable or satelite extortion scheme, RUN out and get one!
6:54pm mountain standard time. Here for 5 minutes
I’m using a room off my study, a comms room. It’s incredible. I’m surrounded by visions from all over the world. BBC, Italian RAI, France Canal 24, NBC, Sverige Kanal 2, CNN and TCM. I get stuff from Asia and even a propaganda channel from Ghana in English. I feel like an Ian Fleming evil mastermind surrounded by monitors in his dark lair.
It’s really weird. And this started with the purchase of one monitor and developed into a deal I couldn’t refuse. Incredible. The world reaction to Trump’s candidacy is so wild to watch in real time. If elected, it looks like his best buddy would be Britain’s new Foreign Minister, Boris Johnson—another flaming nutcase. All we need now is for the Italians to reelect Berlisconi and we’ll have the Three Stooges. It’s great comedy, if it wasn’t so tragic. But the orange man’s stats are dropping rapidly. So very, very strange. I wish I could understand Russian. The Russian channels have become Trump TV.
@Espiritus_Corvus: @Lucky Guy has talked about having a Roku box on other threads. He loves it. I also know a family that has one and it’s very impressive, the channels, the variety, the movies.
Time check: 8:49 PM in the Mountains.
have had a Roku box for several years now. The number of free channels is constantly increasing. I was hooked for a while on Angry Birds! My wife still has some faves on cable, but most of what I like to watch is available on the box. I’m intrigued about the laptop-to-Roku-to-TV screen capabilities, and I will be exploring that soon.
I have the Roku Streaming Stick. We love it.
I never heard of this until a few days ago when the guy sold me the monitor. Man, I’m really out of it out here. It is amazing. No more screwing around with slow, limited phone hotspots, no more cable crap and no more expensive satcoms. Halleluja, brothers and sisters, I am free!!!
8:49 a.m. in sunny CA. watching 3 of the horses here get their feet trimmed by the farrier right now while finishing up my morning coffee. Magnificent morning, but the heat is coming back by the end of the week, ugh.
1:20 pm on Sat. August 27.
Waiting on my daughter to get here for a girls afternoon out. Lunch, a movie, then hang out time here. Happy weekend fellow Jellies. :-)
Big thunderstorm here but all quiet now. I am watching Bourne on TV and thinking of bed.
Still here.
The summer holiday is over. I’ve been to school for three weeks and now I’m DROWN! Some awful teachers popping up here and there doesn’t help either.
<Go back to work crying pool of tears>
11:35 p.m.
Listening to marvellous music on A Propos
10:19 a.m. on a rainy spring morning here. Thought it was time to get the roll call rolling again. Come out, come out, wherever you are, time for fluther muster.
1:30 PM Partly cloudy but warm day 72* F.
10:36 AM. Buckets of rain an hour ago followed by brilliant sunshine. Clouding up again now.
In southwest China, jetlagged and here.
@flutherother Business or pleasure? Pleasure I hope. That is how I found Fluther way back in 2010 now, jet lag browsing after a return trip from Asia.
@Coloma Mostly pleasure as I am now retired.
10pm. About to go to bed as it is a 5am start tomorrow
5:56 p.m. Maundy Thursday. Brilliantly sunny outside.
5:16pm Thursday April 13, 2017. Mountain standard time.
11.00pm GMT Friday April 14 2017. About to write a blog for Tumblr :D
Hey @NerdyKeith I was wondering where you’d got off too. Good to see you!
5:32 pm in sunny California. Just had a swiss cheese quesadilla and a salad, now I am going to relax for the rest of the evening. I sprained my ankle the other night and have been on it all day, I need to kick back and put my feet up. :-)

8:44 a.m. Sat. morning heading outside soon to do some yard cleanup and enjoy the sun before more rain hits tomorrow.
@Stinley Oh I love the summer, I’ve been taking a few nice snaps of the river liffey with the sun shining on it and sharing it on Twitter. I do enjoy the warm weather.
7:45 am MST
Just checking in…breakfast after morning water for the flora; busy day ahead, but I just might be able to get some banjo time.
I’m enjoying the summer sunshine, even though I am at work. I went to a meeting and cycled from the park and ride which was a very pleasant 15 minute ride there and back. Vitamin D and exercise!
8:54 a.m. on a delightful CA. morning. House all open and sipping coffee before going to a dentist appt. in a couple hours.
It is 12:03 am GMT.
Getting my lunch ready for work tomorrow. I just made myself carbonara pasta with mushrooms, mixed peppers and quorn mince.
Also have to get my gym bag sorted out too. Going to the gym in the morning before work.
Hi’ya Nerdy Keith!
9:10 p.m. on June 30 PDT.
I have been exonerated from my incarceration of the past 17 days and am treading softly back into the pod. I remain on parole so I will do my best to avoid the guards and the inmates that I brawled with. haha
@stanleybmanly I was. 17 days in the hole, nothing but gruel, I pissed off some other inmates, but I’ve served my time, though I am on parole so my behavior must be exemplary. Hopefully I will not be a repeat ffender but then again, I never promised anyone a rose garden. LOL
Hey @Coloma be careful of those guards :D
19:03 Eastern
waiting for the water to boil so I can have a cup of tea
Hi Bella good to see you again.
4:45 pm on a 106 degree day. Too hot to move away from the AC. haha
19:49 Eastern
It’s been an oddly cool summer. Like early fall for three months straight.
Tea is ready!
7:32pm here. September 1st 2017.
Yes, Sept 1 for everyone. haha
Sept 2 here. Enjoying the Independent Day.
September 3rd 9:57 am Eastern
September “I-don’t-know-what-day” since I’ve been on vacation this past week. I know it’s Sunday and the past few days have been chilly. Weird for this time of year in south eastern NY.
3 September 2017. The annual 2 day heat wave has hit the city. We’ve had our annual day of 100 degree weather. Just waiting for the blast furnace heat to the East to pull the fog in from the ocean. It should be 65–70 degrees in my house again before Tuesday.
Sunday Sept. 3 here. Day 3 of extreme heat and horrible air quality from all the wildfires around the state and my area. 2 days of over 106 degrees, today will be a cool 103.
Eerie orange light and haze. Hiding in the AC minus all day until this fresh new hell passes.
Here. Been on holiday for a week
4:45am, 4 Sept. 2017.
Dauphin, St. Lucia.
Windward Islands,
Lesser Antilles.
Just starting my day.
The big news today is we have a hurricane coming our way, so I’m checking the updates over coffee. Irma became a Cat 4 while I was sleeping. Between here and her, water temps are 83–86F/28–30C, so she’ll probably continue to intensify. Her outer bands are about 250mi/400km to the east of the Lesser Antilles. Her forward movement is approx. 10mph/16kph, traveling west at 240° by compass, on the button. We should be getting some Irma rain in about 25 hours or less. It looks at this point that we will get her bottom third, if she doesn’t slip a few degrees north in her forward movement, like many of them do.
This will be a busy day. I’m off to batten down the hatches.
9/4/17 3:56 am. 74 degrees f and falling.
7:12 AM MDT, September 4, 2017.
Slept in until 7:00 AM. Fed pup, let her out, and noticed the sun, well above the horizon, is a dull orange, and the atmosphere is hazy from wildfire smoke. We’ve been under ozone alerts for the last couple days.
9:04 a.m. PDT on Sept. 4.
A slight ”“cooling trend today, only 98 degrees predicted. Ozone alerts here too from numerous fires. Day 2 of sinus headache, down to my last fuck which I will happily give, haha
10:03 a.m EST 09.05.2017
went out earlier to watch the neighbours race down the street with their kids – first day of school and people don’t have their schedules adjusted yet
time for tea
10:09 p.m.
Still wandering around :)
9:13am haven’t been to sleep yet. Waiting for someone to inspect my apartment. Buzy day today.
9:36 a.m. on 9–5 in hazy CA. Finally cooler after days of hellish temps. Not exactly invigorating but I’ll take any little bit of releif I can get. haha
12 Midnight AST, St. Lucia.
Irma missed me by a hair’s breadth. No damage and the animals are fine. The boat was safely in drydock for renovations. Sitting here and having a nice sip of cognac after a few very hectic days.
Yo-ho, Strauss, me minstrel friend!
10:44 PM MDT
Usually at this time I’m might be saying Goodnight to Mimi on the TJBM thread, but I think we can break with tradition and say sing Good Night Irene
(Chorus)
Irene, goodnight
Irene, goodnight
Goodnight, Irene
Goodnight, Irene
I’ll see you in my dreams
Last Saturday night I got married
Me and my wife settled down
Now me and my wife are parted
I’m gonna take another stroll in town
(Chorus)
Sometimes I live in the country
Sometimes I live in town
Sometimes I have a great notion
To jump in the river and drown
(Chorus)
Stop your ramblin’, stop your gambling’,
Stop stayin’ out late at night.
Go home to your wife and children,
And sleep but your fireside bright!
(Chorus)
G’night, me hearties!
LOL. Good night, minstrel.
Thanks a lot. Sweet dream people :)
@Espiritus_Corvus I’m glad you are safe. I was worried about you. Now I wish the Florida jellies would check in.

Just finished feeding the animals, poured some coffee and Holy Cow. We got a Cat 5 threatening south Florida, a Cat 3 threatening me, a Cat 1 threatening Tampico on the Gulf just south of Texas—and now we got a huge 8.4 earthquake just off Chiapas with a related tsunami threat.
https://i.imgur.com/gcvIEfs.jpg
Man. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of an 8.4 before.
Thank you, Stinley & Mimi
@Espiritus_Corvus: I’ve been thinking about you because I know you’re out there in the middle of all of it. I’m watching the morning news and they’re showing how Miami is desserted, the stores in Florida are dealing with long lines, the gas stations are becoming empty, the roads and airports are packed and the cruise ships have dropped off or are dropping off passengers in Florida and they have nowhere to go (cruises returning from the Carib).
@jca Yah, it’s gotta be a mess up there. Miami-Dade is a really dense population center. Irma looks like it’s going to be worse than Andrew. Andrew was a huge Cat 5, but it was Cat 4 as soon as it hit Miami. That was the first disaster I worked as a nurse. My god, Hialeah looked like Hiroshima after the bomb. Miles of aluminum siding all over the place. You couldn’t see the roads. Broken, naked trees. They had to chopper the DMATs in. 160mph winds can take out ferro-concrete buildings. No kidding. Just think of what it can do to all those miles of trailer parks. It was horrendous. And then the gougers show up…
Where are you at?
Thinking of you Crow. Keep us updated if you can so we know you’re safe.
@Mariah Thank you, I will as long as I have net. But I think our Floridian Fluthers have a lot more to worry about at this moment. My thoughts are with them. Jleslie, Maud Dib, Seek and others.
@Espiritus_Corvus: I live in southern NY about an hour from the north part of Manhattan.
Oh. I thought you were in one of the Gulf states for some reason. Here’s hoping for a normal winter for you.
OMG. Last year they said it was going to be a bad winter but it was actually a really mild winter. This year, who knows.
Here’s hoping the worst skips on by for everyone in the path of Irma.

One train to work
Hey there @NerdyKeith I thought you took the last train outta Fluther town, good to see you rolling into the station again.
8:32 a.m. PDT on 9–11. Wakin’ up with Don Francisco in my cup.
What’s he doing in your cup…oh, nevermind!
Thanks @Coloma. I’ll always drop back to Fluther town haha
