Are you on the lazy side?

When your work/duties are done are you the type who will always look for something constructive to do even in your free time or do you prefer lounging around? Do you always keep yourself busy?

I am always running, so in my little free time I’m torn between being productive and doing what I want (laying on the chaise lounge under the umbrella on the deck in nice weather).
What I may do as a compromise is throw in a load of laundry and then get to lay on the deck. Take the laundry and then put it in the dryer, back to laying. etc.
I may mop the floor before getting in the shower, stuff like that. I try to make things work while still allowing for enjoyment.
I’m lazy at heart. I always look for time when I’m in no pressure or at least when I have the least work. I’m happy to spend time doing tasks but only tasks that give me preasure. I hate pressure. In the ideal world I would be sleeping all day or spend all day daydreaming or doing other leisures.
But when I have to work I work the hardest that I can, like I enjoy work. Some people get the wrong impression that I’m hard-working.
I have learned to hate the glorification of “busy” in today’s society. I am busy sometimes, and I actively (so to speak) avoid being busy at others. It’s too bad that the word “lazy” carries with it such a negative connotation, it tends to apply to people who don’t spend their time doing what others think they should. By that designation, I am lazy. My house is a mess because I’d rather read, play with my dogs, muse about the vagaries of the universe, etc than do housework. It affects no one but myself.
And that’s my rant. ;-)
I prefer to think of it as creative placidity.
A little of both: I always want to be doing constructive things (and by this I don’t mean work, I mean the kind of hobbies that better a person by exercising their creativity, like writing or painting, and as opposed to useless shit like watching TV), but I never seem to drudge up the motivation, so then I just sit around hating myself. Ho hum.
@Mariah Life gets so much better when you decide that it’s ok to do what you want to do at any given moment.
Yes, but I’m feeling too lazy to elaborate.
@janbb Working on it! My therapist and I think my compulsive desire to not waste any time stems from my near death experience in my teens. Yaaaay baggage~
@Mariah The trick is to enjoy whatever you are choosing to do! And yes, I know that’s a hard-learned trick!
I immerse myself fully when at work. Tend to relax over the weekend, reading books / watching favorite movies / games etc. Can be a couch potato at times..:) Ready to do daily chores though.Like to enjoy simple things in life and live in current moment.
Often when I have free time, I choose to read or listen to music. Some would call that “lazy”, but those activities can be quite engaging.
I am like a Quarter horse, I work in intense bursts of speed & energy but am not much good at sustained performance. lol
Lazy? Hardly, I kick ass when I have a task to complete but once it’s complete yep, I am ready for my well earned reward of R&R.
Yesterday I spent 3 hours cleaning house, was dripping sweat, dumped and filled several large horse troughs here, walked all over the property, was simultaneously dog sitting for the neighbor and went back and forth 4 or 5 times to walk the dog and then, I ripped off my clothes and went for a swim at 4 o’ clock and then languished in bed reading until 11 p.m.
I am like a white tornado when focused on something but when it’s done, so am I. haha
Zero guilt here about being “lazy.”
I get stressed quite easily. Being late, for example, makes me feel really stressed. I get stressed relaxing because I keep thinking of all the things I have to do. I’ve been working on this and am trying to enjoy my time off and fit jobs in around other stuff I’m doing, a bit like as @jca explained. When I’m relaxing I try to get into it mindfully I think (I’m not entirely sure what mindfullness is but this is my version). So tomorrow is Sunday and I’m going to cut the hedge and finish the laundry but not a whole lot more.
Now I have retired I am definitely on the ‘lazy side’. Next to war work is man’s worst invention.
^^Same same. I’m on the retired side and enjoying it very much.
One thing that I have found that helps me enjoy lazy time is if I get any anxiety producing chores out of the way before relaxing. I had meeting minutes to finish and send off today and now I am very happily chilling out.
^^Big time. Nothing like having a responsibility nagging at you while you’re trying to read or do something you should be thoroughly enjoying.
I enjoy relaxing with a beer, I also like working hard outside. Manual labor has always been very relaxing for me. I’m lazy in the sense that I make time to unplug when I can.
@ARE_you_kidding_me That’s not being lazy. I really hate the word lazy, I prefer relaxed. haha
I am now relaxing., after outdoorsey stuff with a couple cold beers myself. Cheers1
Usually I try to find a balance. I need a rest but I also want to be sure that I don’t waste my life. Sometimes it all makes me feel exhausted, that’s why I can mess around before I get my strength back. I can be super lazy. That is how I prepare myself for big achievements :)
